I have a 195* thermostat in my rebuilt 318, that never sees winter driving (salt used on the roads here in metro-Detroit).

I avoided the issue altogether and went with V21 style hood, scoops & cowl using gloss black paint. A little polish every once in a while and its good to go!

Here is what I used on the 318 in my '71 Dart GT. I should've done a side by side with the factory unit.

I replaced all my glass fuses with something like this:

I too used the SSBC kit on my '71 Dart GT. I was able to keep the factory 14 X 5 1/2" (small bolt pattern) Rallye wheels.
