BOY O BOY WAS I WRONG LOL

I'm painting my project car. Supplies are double from my Barracuda paint job of six years ago. Vendor tries to convince me to buy cheaper paint but I have to stay with what I know works. Painful in retirement but I will find a way to paint the car my way.

What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

This, I am in body and paint phase. Quite a challenge when the temperature is 85 by noon. I'm working in my driveway to get it straight and ready for final block out.

Billie Eilish’s Car Collection Leaves No Doubt She Is A True Gear Head

Her dream car is the hellcat. Did any of you read the entire article? Who here wouldn't want a petroleum powered hellcat. I don't listen to music made after 80's, my high watermark being the 60's and 70's. But the story is about a young female gearhead with a collection including two challengers...

Billie Eilish’s Car Collection Leaves No Doubt She Is A True Gear Head

Good for her, she has great taste for a 20 year old young lady. Not many 20 year old people of any sex have that dream car wish and make it come true.

    To daily drive, or not....

I build all my cars to be my DD. This one is my current daily driver. I have road tripped it and used it as my commuter car. The caveat it that I don't take it to Wal mart, and I am careful where I park it. It takes extra time as everyone wants to talk about it. Built 273 original engine and 904...

May as well buy a restored Mopar.....

My theory is Buy the best car you can afford. If you are not into the hobby at least you have a good start on a nice driver. If you are into the hobby and do your own work you can make that good car into your classic your way. For me personally it is all about doing the work-my hi cost therapy...

    Do you get nervous?

Yes I have been nervous when I first got my Barracuda together. It took two years of shakedown cruises to fix all the mistakes. But now I have been driving the car for four years and put a couple 600 mile road trips on it. I just spent three days servicing the car and detailing it to show...

What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Looks like the nights are going to stay above freezing now so-----------------------------Off came the car cover, on went the battery kill switch. Checked all fluids and air pressure in the tires and got it good and warm, all gauges just where they were when I parked it. Do all that and one...

Why so many gloom and doomers on this site

Timely post! Our hobby is a self-fulfilling discipline as is our lives as we live them. As we think we travel and if you think it's bad yes its bad. I find all the issues of the hobby merely problems to be solved. Thinking positively and solving the problems are their own reward.

What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Today I will change the oil & filter on my BC. I usually store it for the winter but this year I am keeping it out for daily driving. I will not drive it when the roads are slick or when the spray that de-icer on the roads but otherwise I am driving it every day I can. The heater/defrost works...

I just ordered my Gear Vendors Overdrive!

I didn't beat on the tunnel. I dropped the transmission crossmember about an inch and shimmed my pinion angle until my digital angle finder made me smile.

I just ordered my Gear Vendors Overdrive!

I put one in my 67 notch. Details are somewhere in my build thread. I've never had a problem with it, works every time. Mine is behind a 904 with console and floorshift. I put the controller in the console, makes a nice install.

    Rottissiory

Nothing like working your car on a rotisserie. I wish I had done it sooner but for my current build it was not optional. My age, back and metal knees make a rotisserie a requirement for me.

What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

I'm sanding my project car down to bare metal. I almost have the body done. It's on a rotisserie so that helps but that 1965 paint and primer are coming off hard. When it's ready it gets a heavy coat of epoxy primer followed by two heavy coats of high build sandable primer. Then I can start the...

    At an emotional crossroad

You had good times with your dad after reconciliation and that is great. You have the car and opportunity to build it. No right or wrong here just build the car you can afford and drive it. Your dad will get it.

Ordered a gear vendor, help with deciding gears

Yes the .78 is the number. Some folks don't think its enough but for me it worked out in my 67 notch. The one thing I did to mitigate the converter slip is go with a lock-up converter but after driving it a year I had the transmission shop remove the lock-up feature. The car is much more driver...
