Dual exhaust on a 67 Notch

Here is the finished product on my test drive today. They aren't perfect, I would have liked them tucked in tighter to the cutouts but-------- Would have liked to trim the cutouts too but finished car and spring here-no time for welding and painting, I am just going to drive it for...

Dual exhaust on a 67 Notch

I finally got some time today to detail my exhaust tips. The heliarc work to weld the rings is beautiful. I did grind the welding but I didn't want to. After grinding, buffing and polishing this is the finished product. Looks homemade but I don't care I like how they will look on the car...

Dual exhaust on a 67 Notch

To make my new tips fit there was some cutting on the rear lower panel. The right side had never been used so I located it and matched it to the left side. I am thinking about 1/2 of the tip up in the panel with about 1/2 below and about 3" of reveal past the lower edge. We'll see.

Dual exhaust on a 67 Notch

I wanted to put some custom tips on my car so I purchased these online. I didn't like the plain ends so I bent up my own SS rings to heliarc on the tips. They will look something like this when I weld them on------------------

    Refurbish 67 273 Exhaust Manifolds

This is the mockup on the bench. I used all SS allen head fasteners and polished them. My intake and valve covers are all SS allen head fasteners as well, I like the look. This is the right side before photo. This is the right side after photo. This is the left side after photo and I don't...

    Refurbish 67 273 Exhaust Manifolds

Now that they are hanging I have to clean them for paint without touching them. I cannot wipe them as it will leave fiber and residue. My method is to use my detail gun and wash everything down with Laqeur thinner until it run off the items, usually taking a black color off the items. This is...

    Refurbish 67 273 Exhaust Manifolds

I shot this series with two cameras and had to gather my other camera cable to download the progress photos. Photo one shows the manifolds out of hot wash ready for bead blast. The second photo shows the manifolds out of bead blast and air cleaned ready to hang for prep. The third photo shows...

    Refurbish 67 273 Exhaust Manifolds

My winter car improvements include R & R the cast iron exhaust manifolds which were treated once and it was an epic fail. I will use VHT silver with silica good for 2000 degrees. We'll see. They detract from my engine bay and must be dealt with. They are headed for hot power wash followed by...

Motor mount shim and pinion angle

I bought spring perch shims, had to because I lowered my transmission mount over an inch to accommodate my gearvendors OD install.

Motor mount shim and pinion angle

It will, I set my pinion 1.5 degrees down.

Motor mount shim and pinion angle

If it was me, I would read the existing angles on the transmission and 3rd member and log them. Then I would shim motor both sides equally as required. Then re-read the transmission and 3rd member angles again and if required shim pinion up or down To original angle readings. But that's just me-----

Accurate Exhaust Products -Review of Complete System

To expand on my 67 Barracuda dual install, I called TTI first looking for headpipes. TTI told me they could do headpipe for my left manifold casting number but could not provide one to the right manifold casting number. In frustration, I called Accurate and talked to their engineer-Tom. I have...

Accurate Exhaust Products -Review of Complete System

I just finished installing my complete accurate deluxe dual system on my 67 Barracuda. I had a similar experience. Could use more detailed instructions. I plan on starting my motor for the first time Friday. Very nervous about it!

    Exhaust blues, need advice----

I unpacked my new Accurate exhaust system yesterday and the first thing I check is the head pipe fit to my stock exhaust manifolds, particularly the passenger side. Both head pipes fit like Swiss watch parts. I know they never made factory dual exhaust for a 67 Barracuda but these folks seem to...

My guy assured me it will last. He coats for the car community in our area and has never had a failure. I think it is in the prep, he runs a big commercial operation. DR:coffee2:
