    1966 with gear vendor

I put one in my 67 Barracuda notch behind a 904 with no cutting. I lowered the crossmember about an inch and put the controller in the console.

I have a 1967 coupe barracuda with a low serial number and shipped march 1966.

Did they build a Barracuda coupe in 66? The OP is the unsure and unable to confirm any part of this(Richard Petty) 67 A-body blue car. Just sayin -----without photos it can't be ---------

    V8 vs. Commando v8

Yes, especially when they hear it run. Even the mopar guys in my local circle don't know that it is incorrect, except the one friend who taught me about mopars.

    V8 vs. Commando v8

I found the 273 four barrel badging in the aftermarket and put them on my 67 notch because that is what is in the car. Seemed appropriate at the time although I have never met anyone who knew they were incorrect. (this site excepted)

    Sway bar

Yes they did. I was able to buy a stock factory sway bar for my 67 Barracuda from a member on this site a few years ago. It is on my car and does a great job. The aftermarket is plentiful in front and rear sway bars as well.

    Adjust valves

I made a degree wheel on my computer the same size as my damper. Glued and cleared it onto the damper with 0 at #1 firing TDC. I put darker lines every 90 degrees. I pull the plugs as I am usually checking compression at the same time. Using the chart and my proper socket/ratchet combo I go...

    Adjust valves

Lots of threads on this, do a search on the small block forum. First thing to know/do is get #1 to TDC, after that its all cake----------------------Good luck.

    small block question

Yes, the change year is 68. 67 down is the same, 68 up should be the same. I had my torque converter build with the smaller register to fit my crank.

    1034A (amber) LIGHT BULBS

NAPA in my town stocked them but I used clear and dyed my lenses amber because I like the look a lot better.

2nd chance to make changes, what you you change?

I would have put Holley Sniper FI on my motor build in hindsight.

    273 "New for 64!" introduction

Just my opinion but I wouldn't use a 350 in my granddaughters learner car. But give me a 283 or 327 and I can build a motor! I do love my mopar motors now though, dream of owning a 340 someday.

    273 "New for 64!" introduction

Well, that 327 would be a great one to build. But they all are cool

    273 "New for 64!" introduction

I stayed with my 273 and built it up a little. Read the commando specs and tried to emulate them with a little extra sumtin/sumtin. I am glad I kept it and built it. It is the motor the car was born with, and now it has all the power my little car needs. One factor in my decision was how...

    Rebuilt 273 won't idle

Turn the curb idle screw out until it calms down for starters. Put a vacuum gauge on it so you can tell what it wants. Once you get it to idle at 1000 rpm, start tuning the idle circuit screws watching the vacuum gauge. Cant speak to a stick car but an automatic car with your build should idle...

I used a base coat of silver POR-15 under a couple coats of PPG body color on mine.

Early A-Body front sway bar help?

It is easy to overdo a front sway bar. I found a stock one for mine from a member. The recommended aftermarket ones mentioned here are a good choice too

    1966 Barracuda 273 build

Studs to replace head bolts? Big valves require relief in block? We did same to my heads except big valves when building my motor. I used ARP headbolts though.

    Camshaft in a 65 273

I built my 67 273, out .040 with egge 10.5 pistons and an ld4b intake. I used a lunati hydraulic with the stock rockers, had to install shorter pushrods. So far, so good. I am happy with it.

I hate to even think of it, but '65 Signet value?

Needs a lot of work, not to be a downer but maybe consider parting it out. Getting into structural frame stuff takes the right enthusiast owner. Good luck with it----
