    727 Making Weird Noise

Realized I never closed the loop on this one. Turns out the noise is coming from a bad passenger side wheel bearing that would make the noise when it got hot. Will be replacing the bearings in the next month or so. Glad I didn't pop for a new transmission!!! Thanks again for the assistance...

3.23 Open 8.75 diff needs to go

I opted for 4.30s when swapping from my 3.23s and absolutely love them. That said, I prefer cruising secondary/back roads vs highways/toll roads most of the time. No problem running 60-65ish on the highway for periods of time when I have to, but I just really enjoy tooling and ripping around...

60 mph = about 3200ish. Flashes just below that at approximately 3000-3100. Pat

    What budget torque converter?

Don't know cam grind, but definitely quite a bit of overlap, 10.2 pistons, old 340 Torker. RVMB w/o 1st gear lowland apply. Worked OK with the 3.23s I had been running, but the switch to 4.30s really made my combo work well together. Maybe not the ideal steert combo by some folks standards...

I think my 727 is fried. Now I'm at a crossroads...

I supported my 340 with a floor jack and put a block of wood between the firewall and back of the engine block. Jack under trans pan w block of wood, loosen cooling lines, linkage and what not, the pulled the mounting bolts and eased it down. I've since picked up a HF trans jack which made...

Agreed. Maybe blown front pump, seal? Pretty easy fix if so. Happened to me in the Duster. . Good luck with the troubleshooting, Pat

Hey Folks, Hope everyone is doing well today. Looks like a thread I started a week or so ago was a casualty when FABO was down/restored. Also lost the recent conversations with member Dave who lives near me and was kind enough to offer some insight and assistance. Dave with the badass 69 Cuda...

Friggin pinion nut not breaking loose....

Hey folks, Planned on pulling the chunk (742) to install a suregrip and 4.30 gears set. Figured I'd break the pinion nut loose before starting. Got the car on the lift, PJ Blaster, parking break on, breaker bar with extension. Not budging. So much so that the parking brake isn't holding it. No...
