Because I have a balancer that has provisions for such a part. No reason not to. From what research I have done I have found that it serves two purposes: Keeping dust away from the seal and wicking very small amounts of oil seepage found around the seal.

Automatic Transmission pulled out. Would like to be able start engine without installing transmission. Any suggestions? Also if I leave the neutral switch wire disconnected will I get ignition or do I need to jump a connector?
