    What would you do?

OK, the MSD box stays. Next question with the motor. I have a 1/2" Edelbrock composite carb spacer. I'm hoping this going to help with the fuel boil off problem I have when I shut the motor down for a few minutes when I make quick stop for gas or run into the store? I also came across this...

    What would you do?

The cam is not that aggressive. It’s a knockoff of the Mopar performance P4452782 restoration part for the 71 340. We verified lift and approximate duration.

    What would you do?

Yes, but I didn’t have a meter last time it quit while coming to a stop during a run. Car wouldn’t start but after an hour it fired right up and I drove it home. Module was warmer than I think it should have been. I am also going to order a Mopar performance voltage regulator just in case there...

    What would you do?

Interestingly, after the MSD install, the car idled in park at 1150 rpm. She idled at 850 in park with the Pertronix HEI module. I turned it down to 850 again and will need to check timing and carb adjustments with the new ignition The MSD box is cleaner than what I had

    What would you do?

The exhaust manifolds are 71 340 manifolds with 2-1/2 dual pipes and thrush welded mufflers. vroom vroom

    What would you do?

I put an MSD box in it today. The HEI modules kept shutting down. I think they didn’t like the available current on the stock harness “run” circuit. I’m already getting heat from the geniuses on Facetube that the car can’t have two ignition systems. Even though this car hasn’t run on the...

    What would you do?

My amazing better half puts up with the old gas guzzlers because I take her out and do stuff like this on the boat! Life is an intricate balance. That boat earns its keep let me tell ya! lol

    What would you do?

The only thing I get when the hood is open is “ man that thing is clean “ Even though a hand full of people who walk up to the car at cruise nights know that Chrysler never built a 4 barrel 318 Duster, they all dig the “stock like” appearance of what the car has going on under the hood.

    What would you do?

If it’s ever been mocked, it was behind my back for sure. When I’m out tearing around with the car on the weekends, guys just make the assumption it’s a 340 or 360 under the hood.

    What would you do?

It’s all I can do to keep from pissing my pants ever time I walk past the car in the garage. It took 8 years of free time in the evenings to get the car put back together. A few times a week I’ll slip the cover off the front of the car, open the hood and just grin. I love it !

    What would you do?

So I’ll leave the Duster as she is and use the 302 heads to keep the barn doors from swinging shut

    What would you do?

Thank you! 1974 Plymouth E5 Rallye Red I already have this 96 Ferd I could not pass up! Had to add it to the gas guzzling fleet. Lots of new sheet metal and paint on the pickup. The box truck and pickup have over 700,000 miles between them on the original motors. So this is rest of my fossil...

Here is a walkaround with the mighty little 318 running.

    What would you do?

I have not thought it through yet. From time to time the idea of a 408 Magnum crate engine has popped into my head, but I’ve become attached to this 318.

    What would you do?

So I put this car back together with a driveline like it left the factory with. 318/904/8.25 The motor is basically stock with Summit cam similar to the mopar purple cam. Added an Edelbrock 1406 on a Performer intake and dual exhaust using 340 exhaust manifolds. The trans is stock with a...

    Summit Cam Recommendation

My son is doing a very budget conscious 318 for his 74 Swinger. He just bought a 73 318 with a new rings, bearings, freeze plugs. We have a friend who is selling a set of 302 heads an Eddy 650 carb and Weiand ( I think Speed Warrior ) intake that we can get for a nice price. Planning on...

    Mild 318 misses at 3000rpm

I am pretty anal about that kinda thing, but I have to admit, that is such a no-brainer thing, I didn't check that. I still have the circuit with the plug for the dizzy on it. When I get home I will check it out if I had those reversed, that would be a pisser. The red and the black wires on the...

    Mild 318 misses at 3000rpm

Problem Solved! I moved the HEI module to be right at the coil and dizzy. Checked timing and it was 50* at idle, yet it was 18* when module was at the old location. Set timing at 18* and she runs great. Took the car out for a ride and man, this little 318 makes some amazing power!! Thanks for...

    Mild 318 misses at 3000rpm

Filled the car up with premium gas, set initial timing back 15* and drove around for the first time. She hesitated some here and there but when rpms claimed over 2000 I think some of that advance came in and then it ran real nice. Pulled like crazy up there. Both fuel mixture screws on the...

    Mild 318 misses at 3000rpm

Come on now. I'm not that clueless. lol It's connected to the ported vacuum! My brake vacuum source was wide open( forgot to put the hose back on) when I shot the first timing reading when it started to run nice. So the manifold was sucking in air big time from that 3/8 hose barb.
  29. DusterDaddy

    Mild 318 misses at 3000rpm

I also had the main manifold vacuum port wide open ( took the hose to the brake booster off to change the dizzy and forgot to put it back on till I hooked up the vacuum advance to the carb. ) I have been meaning to get the reducing fitting so I can connect the PCV. One of those things I always...
