Why not have them terminate behind the tires like on the trans am, or at the bumper with turn downs instead of chrome tips.

Dumping them before the axle may increase dust and noise in the car.

well try to have it exit in front of the rear tires, I've never heard a nice sounding engine with the exhaust exiting under the car especially with turn downs into the pavement

I would at least stick a couple round magnaflo resonators at the rear just before the bumper. There are a few cars around here running full pipes no mufflers they sound like crud!!!! Same as the guys with the electric cut outs, unless you have 11.5 cr or better they sound bad!

I had the same issue, pulled off the manifolds, new gaskets. cleaned everything good got the studs from the dealer. i think they were about $35 i think they were updated from the stock so they may last longer. its been a couple years and about 35K so far so good.

Not as exotic as you think, i see plenty of tubbed, big rimmed, slicks, cage, aluminum head $$$ carb, glass hood, scoped 340 cars running 11's LOL. point is the manifolds will not completely choke the engine and yes headers are better for ultimate HP but i do know what the stock stuff can do in...

The fastes 340 so far in F.A.S.T is 11.42, remember thats on skinny bi-ply tires with gears in the 3.70 to 3.90 range. Add slicks, 4.30, and a stall about 800 higher than the 2800 or so that they run and your moving with those stock logs

One reason would be to run 12 flat to high 11's, pop the hood and watch folks scratch there head when they see stock intake carb V/C's and exhaust manifolds

yes 3" probably better, but might be hard to run all the way to the back next to the tank, if your using the smaller TTi headers i don't think the 3" would give much more HP, you could also go 3" to the muffler and 2.5" out the back.

i made some shims for mine, one tube also touches the starter. way better still than the low hanging cheepo headers, plus mine look new after 10 years and about 10k miles.

2.5" should work good, use a x pipe with the large 20" dynomax super hemi mufflers, and if you could fit some resonators in the tail pipe section you will fine,

your motor sounds very mild, you will feel a big difference with the TTi's even with 2.25". 440+6 and hemis had 2.25" not ideal but still ran fast!
