    Tail / Driveshaft Angle..???

I allmost forgot to ask the simplest of questions. Are you having the vibrations moving or standing still? Assuming it's moving, is there any speed it is more pronounced? Or Condition ... Accelerating, Maintaining speed, or Coasting? If it's standing still by chance, then it can only be the...

    Tail / Driveshaft Angle..???

Tom , The Angle itself CANNOT cause a vibration. Though, an excessive angle will increase the wear rate of the U Joints. A worn u-joint could cause vibrations very silmilar to a flat spotted tire. (Ask me how I know) PM me, I'm not that far from you. Happy New Year ! Eric

    727 Vs the 904

I agree ! That what I run. 360/904 w 2.74 and 4.10's. The difference IMO between the 2 is that the 727 will need less servicing in the long run. The 904 needs more TLC such as, regular fluid changes and inspection to live with the higher HP, other than that it's bullet proof to 500 Hp with...

    POWER AND SLICKs....with the 8 1/4 help

I'll bite back at this thread in a week or 2 Dusterboy. Theory wise I'll assume your car is 3400lbs with you in it. To run 11.85 you'd need 410 hp, so in real life ya need more like 500 HP. Here try this link http://www.eldemoniorojo.com/calculator.htm

    used ring and pinion?

Unless, they came outta a 600HP "race" car you should be fine. If you wanna make sure there OK. You could have em "magnafluxed" for cracks. Besides that a good wear pattern as said above is all ya need.

    Cleaning up an axel housing

I find the easiest way to start on heavily encrusted stuff like that is with a good pressure washer. You'll be surprized what comes off. Then a wire wheel/wire brush treatment and some "Rustoleum" is good enough for the average rear.

    Exploding Torqueflites

The Question.... I still have (while following this long term thread) and not really being a tranny guy. IS..... What, if any, are the differences between the 727 and 904 Sprag(s) ? I have never seen a HD 904 sprag.. Why?

    shifting automatic

What trans makes no difference be it a 904 or 727. It's up to the engine's capabilities on what RPM to shift at. The best way without using a dyno...Is to go to the local race track and spend a day testing. From what I have learned... the best way to do this is.. 1st run.. shift every shift @...

1 Problem with my 69 cuda.

Rocco, Keep in mind that fluid wont leak up! In the pics looks like only from the pan gasket downwards is wet. So it looks basically a leaking gasket. When you go to redo the gasket... Take the round end of a small hammer and concave each bolt hole slightly on the pan. (Pan set right side up...

    Trans Snafu and ???

Well, after a little discussion in the chat room... It seems agreed that I have sheared off the hub on the Torque Converter! It was recently replaced by a local converter guy at a cost of $350. So... I'll take it back and see what they will do for me if anything. On the bright side , it's...

    Trans Snafu and ???

Hey all! Well here's the quick story... I did a burn out the other day, Thought nothing of it. DROVE the car back into the garage and parked it. Today I went to move it and NOTHING.. No Forward, No reverse... Of course checked the linkage (ok) Fluid is slightly over filled, not...

    trans cooler line size

The braided lines are fairly easy to work with. 2- 6' lengths of -AN6 is plenty. To cut em' wrap electrical tape around your spot and cut with a 32TPI hacksaw blade. WD40 or silocone helps alot getting the fittings together. Also being careful not to fray the braids too much makes life easier.

If I remember right the trans fittings were AN4. Then used adapter to run AN6 line.

    leaking 904/999

IMO When you have that pan off, you may want to try to dimple the bolt holes outwards a bit. When you tighten the bolts it will apply pressure to a greater area. I just did my 904 no leaks. I sprayed/used copper spray a gasket on the cork gasket.

Chevy Torque converter in a 904?

Hey All!!! I had an interesting day.. I looked at the converter hub closer today and found a crack in it. So, remembering I passed a place in town called converter something.
