    Riddle me this Bodymen!

IF, you use a metallic paint, make sure you paint the panels as they are going to hang on the car. I.E. paint the door as it would hang, normally. You would think you could do a better job layin flat, BUT, the metallic will lay differently on a flat versus upright panel. And you'll see it.

    body work approach

I'd go with .023 or.025 (thin) wire Mig with the shielding gas. The flux core is not well suited for panel work. Also, you'll want to make small/short beads, skipping around the area your working, Too much heat in one area and you'll warp your metal. Mig welds are not very flexable either, so...

    Auto body questions

Working section by section...Use Non toxic paint stripper, get it as clean as ya can. Then Sand with 60-80 Grit on Dual Action 6" Air Sander. Then you spray it with an Epoxy Primer. Once sprayed with the Epoxy it sealed for life. And you wont have to redo your work a second time.

Duster has gone "under the knife!!"

    '75 duster windshield gasket

I used the one's from Steele Rubber on my 73' Duster. I had the Gasket, plus round lockstrip. If memory serves both pieces were in the $175-200 range. Now, IMO the 73-76's were all the same shape n size windshield, the "tint" on the top may have changed from year to year, but that's all. So the...

    sanding in the rain

I suggest sanding with 60 or 80 grit to bare metal , 1 panel at a time and then using epoxy primer Say 2 coats, it's waterproof and will give you the "time" to get all the way around the car. It is more $$$ but Regular primer is pourous and you have to sand n re-prime if you leave it outdoors...

    Paint questions...

Start with an epoxy primer, then base/ clear, It's not too hard to do. My car was the result of the 1st time I ever sprayed a Kandy Color. The difference Between an enamel and base/ clear is ... With Enamel , you get 1 shot, 1-2 coat application, as you spray it is the way it will dry, Drips n...

    8 Points roll bar

IMO, I would suggest you "buy the 8 point kit", Mild Steel, from as close to "home" as you can find it. ALL cages Start as straight tubing. Door Alignment

Replace those bushings for Sure ! Then Realign it. Trying to align a door with "sloppy" hinges just never works. Trick of the Day: If you are about to remove ANY Body Panel (and it fits) Just drill a few 1/8" holes before unbolting for quick EASY realignment. I.E. If i were doing doors, I'd...

    Flux core welders

I Bought/Used a Lincoln Electric, Power Mig 135 to do my entire car. Versatile enough to do bodywork, Strong enough to weld my mild steel cage. Paint stripping tricks

Trick is to scuff entire area to be stripped with some 40-60 grit on a DA Sander (be careful) not too heavily. Then, the stuff can get under and lift the paint. I find it much easiser and less messier than sandpaper alone, Get as much off as you can,(Multiple coats of stripper and Patience) Use...

    1/4 install snafu

Ok, if you used a MIG welder, it's gonna be hard to fix. Because, The MIG welding process leaves a stiff allmost non malleable, Joint. If you TIG Welded it your in luck, it leaves a "soft" weld. Just, Beat it into place. Now, Either way, I would suggest heating the indented area with a torch...

    Rusted trunk.

Hey Steve, I dont have any pics of it at the moment, but I basically cut out my spare tire well, welded 2 - 3/4" angle iron supports 90 degrees to the frame rails. Then Flat stock, Sheet metal over that, pop- riveted and seam sealed it. Mounted 16 gal fuel cell over that. Worked well for me...
