    Tremec Swap

Am I confusing transmissions? Isn't the T5 a TREMEC? And which transmission should I be looking for? If not the TREMEC, what AM I looking for? I know it's not going to be an afternoon bolt-in, but like I said, I just want to know what to keep my eyes open for. I run across, shall we say...

    Tremec Swap

Which is the better T5? I figured if I can score the box cheap by keeping my eyes & ears open I'll go for the swap if it's within reason. I'll do a search. I like my 4:10's, but hate 3,200 RPM on the highway..... in the right lane.

    Tremec Swap

I'm not sure if I want to do this or not, but supposed I wanted to swap in a T5 in my Barracuda, what would I need? I can *probably* locate the transmission, just need to know what else is involved. I know Quick-Time had bell housings at one time. Can anyone list what's needed and who to...

    Driveshaft Shop in N.Y.C.?

Thanks for all the responses guys! Rob called me yesterday at work to let me know about Nassau Drive Shaft after he spoke with Tim. They'll get the call later today. Thanks again Rob! After enjoying about 300 miles of cruising, I'm pulling her (partially...) apart. I need to change my fan...

    Driveshaft Shop in N.Y.C.?

Me thinks my driveshaft may be out of balance. I get a nasty vibration at about 3,500-4,000 RPM. I have the correct dampener & flywheel on my 360.... new U-joints....scattersheild is aligned.... mounts are good. Question is, is there a reputable shop out here on Long Island that can balance my...

    Hurst Shifter Rebuild

I figured I'd answer my own question so maybe someone else has it easier.... I found a vendor on e-Bay that makes his own: http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Motorcitysupercars__W0QQ_armrsZ1 Last I heard it cost over $200 to have Hurst rebuild your shifter. For $23 I'll take my chances on a...

    4spd..... worth a crap??

If the guy wants to sell, you should be able to scrutinize every corner of the car.... Grab a pencil and a piece of paper and make a tracing of the fender tag, go home and de-code it. And if it's an 8 3/4 rear (not the 8 1/4 you mentioned...) $300 is worth it for the rear end alone. Otherwise...

    Melted B&M Shift Cable

Did you have a really tight bend in it? And was it downstream of a heat source? After running it to operating temp. and then having it sit still and "cook", you might have accidentally compromised the sheathings integrity (translation: it %$#@#$-up). Or check the ground straps.... :-D

    Melted B&M Shift Cable

Check your chassis ground Joe.... This was a common problem with GM's back in the 70's. Battery ground cable would corrode and cook the shifter cable.

    Line Fitting sizes?

I asked the same dumb question, so your not alone. AN sizes are derived from the size of the line. A 3/8' tranmission cooler line would be -6. Hose Size is the measurement of the Inner Diameter of the hose measured in units of 1/16th of an inch.Examples:a -2 hose has an I.D. of 1/8"a -3 hose...

    Pilot Bearing

The pilot bearing from a Dakota is for the 360 with the large opening in the flywheel end of the crank. A 273 should be the standard 273-318-340 piece. Check the item on the right in the link from Mancini's. http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/pilotbearing.html

    Pilot Bearing

Geee.... Just ONE of the downsides to our "new" board is that we lost all of our previous posts that were saved from back when it had "no personality". I'm so happy things are better.... Anyone remember the exact application I need for the pilot bearing for a 4 spd MP short block? I think it...

    Weird throttle.... ummmm... thing.

I'll stick my neck out and say the pad type mount from either a small block or big block will work. The 6 cylinder mount might be a spool, which is a totally different animal. Schumacher makes a nice engine torque arm, but at $69.00 ( plus shipping...) it's a bit pricey for what it. But then...

    balancing a flywheel

I think he's looking to machine a flywheel, not a flex plate. I bought a 360 flywheel from Chrysler for $230. You *might* get lucky and find one in a wrecking yard. The backside will have huge circular reliefs cut into it compared to a 273-318-340 which is smooth.
