Try installing a set of TTI's on a 4 spd. A body with a Lakewood scatter shield! I posted a thread in the EXHAUST forum on my TTI installation. While I didn't have to hack up my Z bar and do any welding, I did have to massage it with a torch. Three or nine times if I remember right...

Are the engine mounts new? Is the engine centered? Was the car ever hit? There's many variables that could affect installation and clearances. I just did a completed TTI system install on my car and there were plenty of issues. See my thread...

And that's 2 years if you live in the desert. If you have any type of weather, they're already rusting out....but don't worry. You'll probably rip them out on a speed bump first! Headers.... the bane of every A Body enthusiast! :angry7:

You actually answered your own question.... cheap is cheap. The fitment issues w/ Hookers (and most others...) are due to them copying each other. And they all suck... Most cheapie headers require you wrap pipes around steering linkage and need a ball-peen hammer for final adjustments. Then...

Aside from inlet/outlet locations, these are the same mufflers, right? The 17219 & 17222 are the straight-through mufflers everyone claims to flow and sound good. I need a change here guys.... a change for the better!

I'm guessing the welded are the ones everyone has posted positive comments on. For a $150 (+ $25 rebate....) they sound reasonable, especially compared to the rest of the system. Here we go.... bolt stuff on, remove stuff, buy stuff, replace stuff, do it again... :angry7:

Mine are 2.50" X 18-19"...... All I know is that they are getting annoying. I'm a big fan of noise, but these are obnoxious. I'll crawl under the car (again...) and measure before I order anything. Thanks for the info & links. 8)

Well, as I get to drive my car more & more I am realizing that I too don't like Flowmasters.... They are starting to annoy me when I drive my car. Dynomax it is, but what size? My Flowmasters are 19" and JEGS advertises 16" Dynomax's. Should I shop elsewhere? I'd hate like hell to "modify"...

That's exactly what I had to do: tighten-up almost every damn bolt that was left loose from the stateside factory! Cars with no transmission fluid or A/C lines not being CONNECTED, never mind no R-134! And these were cars coming off of the delievery trailer! Never mind the cars being aligned...

You DIDN'T have clearance issues on the passenger side header!?!?!? Wow... I had to cut out a 1/4" slice to make `em fit. The pipes were hitting right here. NO WAY could I have tightened the flanges without pulling the threads out of my heads, bending or cracking the flange to pipe welds...
