I dealt with him 10+ years ago when he had the W2 manifolds available and was just coming out with the W5 manifold. At that time, I believe they were going for $1100-$1200 and shipping was $175 to the Left Coast. Good guy to deal with.

True but why run any huffer if you run it anemically underdriven and/or not get into it all the way? I think a dynamic comp ratio in the 8s would be a wiser route but since Brian (@ IMM) built it, ask him what he thinks. I think he'll say something similar to our discussion re: my 408/6-71.

Both as I am but based off a 408. Note: Really good pistons are pricey. Depending on how you plan to run it, a stock 340 block may not do to well pushing beyond that hp range. If you are going to flog it a lot, you might want to consider a R block/resto 340 block.

I seem to remember seeing a W-series with a B&M blower with Mikuni sidedraft carbs. Pretty slick setup.

Brain, we need to talk near future. This is one of the motors (actually individual parts) I wanted to bring down to you. As of right now, 408/W2s/6-71. Still waiting to see if you hear anything out of the Indy camp re: a new dedicated W2 blower manifold.

FYI: Blower pistons are costing me arond $800 with the wrist pins (and that's a pretty decent deal).

duster340, just out of curiosity, let us know what kind of pricing you find for the girdles over there. I have to pick one up as well and was curious in comparing pricing and quality.

Although it wasn't an option (but close enough to the 8-71), I am going with a 6-71. The 8-71 woudl be a little too much for my setup.

I have to check into that. I have a set of race W2s but they have been worked and am not sure if they will be the best candidates for the huffer motor.
