How about a lack of fuel pressure? Would that cause plugs to be uneven? Just a thought as I was working on her a little this evening and found the new fuel filter wouldn't stay full.

My oil leak problem before came from the lifter/cam valley. If that is where it is sucking air I wouldn't expect spraying around the outside of the intake mating surfaces to yield much results. But I will give it a try.

I am not doubting you at all moper, so don't take my questioning the wrong way. Would a simple tuning issue cause the plugs to be so uneven?

I am running a 4 speed so I set the idle up around a 1,000, right or wrong. There is vacuum at the port, but I don't own a vacuum guage at this point to give you a value. It certainly doesn't seem overly strong. Thanks for sticking with me here.

The carb was a street strip build by Demon Sizzler. I would have to check on the model, but if I remember right it is a 1972. The vacuum is hooked in to the ported side I believe (front left next to PCV in center) Initial timing is set at 16 with total in at 33 by 2800. I will double check...

Another issue I did'nt think to mention is that whenever I hook the vacuum advance up on the distributor it stalls the engine out very quickly.

That's the thing. If the plugs were oil fouled wouldn't they be kind of moist and sooty? They are new plugs and have only been in for the new cam's break-in period.

This is a brand new M1 intake. I do have the original cast 340 intake sitting here I could try. Are you saying to get an imprint of both intakes and then compare?

Pulled the intake off again. Thought maybe a wiped a couple lobes on the cam because plugs 5 and 6 were fouled. Just the same oil leak again sucking in to the ports. Can't quite figure this out. I have used Fel-Pro and Mopar's gasket kit with silicone on the end rails Oil is soaked half way...

I have a 600cfm Edelbrock that came off the 340 that used to sit under the hood. Do you think it has to be on the fuel side and not the ignition?

Are you sure you took the ground from the heads up to the negative terminal on the coil? When I tried that it killed the motor.

After pulling the intake back off I put a straight edge down the port surfaces and found a high spot on the front left corner. My machine shop had to remove .012 to correct it. Everything seems sealed now as far as oil leaks. Still fighting a miss though.
