    Two Belts w/Aftermarket A/C?

Don't know what type of belts you are using but I have had the best luck with NAPA brand belts. I'll worn you they aren't cheap but they are great V belts.

So any good cam and lifters out there?

I have put in at least 3 Mopar, 2 GM and 1 Ford small block camshafts in the past three years with no failures at all. I make sure the block is clean and the lifter bores are not too tight so the lifter can spin easy. Use Lucas hot rod oil only. I have only used Lunati camshafts and lifters...

    Orange connecting rods?

It's copper. The factory did that on some connecting rods to get the weight up to match the others. You'll see that in small blocks sometimes too. Seal it up and drive it, they are fine.

383 Help/Questions, Long Storage, Unknown Parts

Put it in and run it. Looks good. I have seen those copper colored rods before, nothing wrong with them. The paint on the camshaft is because its a Mopar purple shaft I'll bet.

    Higher compression octane requierments

Yep, how such squeeze and the cam will make all the difference. I'm in N.E. Ohio and run this Lunati 10230703 cam with Speed Pro H116CP pistons in a 360. Block is decked so they are level with the deck. Heads are 71cc. I can use 91 octane no problem 89 and it will ping. Runs great. I used to run...

I don't know about that statement Rusty. We have all done things that aren't in the service manual, including you. Just saying.

    Oil pump priming. Vaseline needed?

Never had an issue with a Mopar pump like you guys are talking about. Now in my other life... I worked on British Leyland cars... that was hell. If those stupid cars sat for too long the pump would not pick up oil at all. So we would have to removed the spark plugs and have someone crank the...

    Cam centerline

Not much info to go on. Big Block? Do you have the camshaft grind number? How about the cam card? I'm sure you could look it up by the part number if you have that.

11:1 too high for pump gas?

I have been in that boat many times before. I will NEVER go over 10 to 1 on a street engine again. You'll never feel the extra compression in a street car other then always adjusting the timing and carb. Sure you have aluminum heads but when it is 85 of 90 outside and the sun it shinning down...
