    Lean idle. Rich cruise.

Man I just hate the thought of drilling into that aluminum body. Chips everywhere! Also, do I really need to do the secondary too?

    Lean idle. Rich cruise.

to continue, measured my T slot orifice and was shocked. The pic shows a 060 and 055 pin gauge in there. so it's .115 or so. Seems pretty friggin big if ya ask me, but who knows. Since I'm so rich at cruise RPM, what size should I restrict it to? No idea where to begin.

    Lean idle. Rich cruise.

Well well well. I jetted down the primary from 82 to 77. took a little ride and now cruising at 2600 RPM, level flat ground, I'm now in the 12.4 range. From the 10's. BUT upon brisk acceleration on the primaries only..... BANG! in the 15 range and higher. so take it easy bring it home, and I...

    Lean idle. Rich cruise.

Well, I did machine a bushing for my MSD distrib that should be around 10 degrees. The 18 that they provide(the least amount), is way too much. I think. I don't know how this thing would idle at 15 degrees initial. Cam is solid roller .668/.668 259/265 . Might try it. Can't hurt.

Finally have this set of 2.08 Edelbrock heads done.

Awesome! That's some skill there, brother.

    Lean idle. Rich cruise.

why on earth does Holley put big main bleeds in? Every carb I've worked with is at least ,030 from the factory. Befuddling! Also. why put a curve in the dist when I'm almost always above 2700RPM? I mean we're talking about close to 600 on the engine dyno. Probably more now with the upgraded...

    Think I'll start with .070.

Finally have this set of 2.08 Edelbrock heads done.

Can you get there without tubing the bolt holes? I've been running pushrod oiling for years now and think it's a better system. But i am curious.

    Lean idle. Rich cruise.

This is exactly what I was thinking, but how much? I believe my PV restrictors are .062. Factory.

    Lean idle. Rich cruise.

Main bleeds are 34, from the factory.. But now I'm confused. I do know smaller bleeds will pull more fuel (I thought). I need less fuel at cruise.

    Lean idle. Rich cruise.

I revived this post as I'm having a similar problem. running an XP850 and perfect at idle, perfect at WOT, but pig rich at cruise. Like 11 to 1 ish. Light 4 speed car with 4:30 gears. Timing locked at 33 degrees. Tried changing air bleeds, P Valves....all for naught. Jetted primary from 84 to...

Finally have this set of 2.08 Edelbrock heads done.

pretty good numbers. My old Eddy's just came back from a professional porter who just retired from a big name company. I got lucky to get his name. They also have the 2.08 intake. I ran them a couple years as ported by my local machinist. The new guy also did my S Victor. wish I had taken better...

    360 Windage Tray?

I have one in my shed from a 73 Ramcharger 360. Factory. So we know they came with one.

Small block + 4 speed build

Well it all sounds great, but I guarantee those 5/16 pushrods are gonna flex at high RPM. Been there, done that.

Ah crap! I forgot to ask. Are good ole Yellow Rose and JPar still the best of buddies?

Thank you guys! I have updated the old stroker, sometimes because I had to. Other times I just wanted to.

Man it has been a long time since I've posted, so I wanted to say a GIANT hello to everyone, on my favorite sub-forum. Hope all you old friends are well and Hi to some news guys. Between the pandemic and a couple hiccups, time seems to have been limited. But I'm glad to have a handle on life...

What solid roller lifters are you running in your LA non roller block

BAM Pro solids.(the old MRL lifter) .815 roller with internal oiling. Those Comp 828's are splash oiled. I have run the BAM's in 3 engines now and they have been rock solid. Current engine does have lifter bores bushed, but i have run them in a bone stock block twice. they are kind of pricey...

    Well It Finally Happened

Superformance. Pink Viton seal. Never had one leak, weep, or seep. Ever. Long as you install it right.

    Wiesco protru or icon

My vote goes to the Icons. They can take a pretty good pounding.

Another small block project starts tomorrow

Bush the lifter bores and run BAM Pro lifters......pricey? Yeah. But worth it in my mind. Control oil flow AND correct the crap factory tolerances all in one shot. Just my solution.

    My doomed 408 build

Maybe the word "day" was exaggerated. Usually its 8AM to 2 or so... Last Monday was 11AM to 430. $260 bucks. I've been thinking for years, I should send those guys a pizza or something....

Horsepower limit for out of the box Edelbrock RPM heads

I'd love to "finger" one of those ports just to feel the short side turn.

    My doomed 408 build

Shame all this happened. I would like to know what kind of dyno was used. That print out doesn't look like any I've ever seen. Kind of all over the place? I have NEVER spent more than 300 bucks for a day on the pump. My guy does all my machine work and I schedule "when you have a slow day". I...

Horsepower limit for out of the box Edelbrock RPM heads

I thought the original "availability" date was last month. I have an older brochure right from TF that says February 2019. Was there an earlier date that they didn't make?

"For the money", what out there is better? For the money.

    Super Victor fun!

No more Edelbrocks for me. I'm grabbing the Trick Flows at some point. Thought they were getting released this month...

    Super Victor fun!

No real complaining here. In fact I kind of enjoy the work. The issue is the price. It should reflect the "needs finishing" part.

    Super Victor fun!

Oh. Forgot. I wish the S Victor had the plenum of the 340 Vic. They extend the runners maybe half inch or so. Might have a bit more down low, without giving up that great top end. Maybe. 340 plenum then the Super Vic. The S Vic is out of box.
