Flexplate and TC for a BluePrint 408 Magnum

I'd wait and see what @Johnny Mac says. With the Magnum crank out the window, none of that matters anymore. Great question that will be a good learning experience for all of us.

    Transmission TC/Flex Plate Cover

It should bolt right on. Magnum trucks and vans used a 518 or a 46RE, which is pretty much a 727 with an OD unit hanging on it. Same thing applies to an A500 which is based off the 904 style case. The bellhousing flange on a 5.2 or 5.9 is the same as 318/340/360.

    Which one is better? (long)

I'm hoping it might work, but not holding my breath....lol. If it doesn't, maybe I can get lucky and find a new pump for a 93 D100 with a Magnum motor. I looked on Rock Auto a while back and they showed them in stock. Whether it fits my existing tank is yet to be seen.

FRP- Flyin Ryan Performance is supposed to be the Mac Daddy tuner for JTEC PCM's.

    Which one is better? (long)

If the new fuel pickup/pump doesn't have a return nipple already in it, there should be plenty of room on the flat face of it to drill a hole and solder or tig a nipple in it. I'm doing basically the same thing to an 88 D100 long bed pickup. Truck is already fuel injected, but I have to figure...

Is this a 340 or 360 pan? Need one for my 5.9.

Get a 5 gallon bucket and 5 gallons of white vinegar, and then soak that thing in the vinegar to get the rust out of it. Cheap way to derust it.

Magnum oil filter block plate - source?

If the center section that the bolt/filter adapter goes thru is still straight and parallel with the outer edge, that bent place is probably where it is leaking. The seal on the filter may touch that place, but since it is still square everywhere else, it doesn't exert enough down pressure to...

Need some guidance on transmission/flexplate/torque convertor

Yep, use the Magnum flex plate either way and just make sure you have the correct one for a 5.2 or a 5.9 because the 5.9 flex plate has the weights on it and the 5.2 doesn't. No weights on the converter for either one. You will need to rat one hole out for LA converters on either flex plate...

Need some guidance on transmission/flexplate/torque convertor

Yes, just use the flex plate from your 5.9 Magnum and slot one hole out so all 4 bolts will fit. I'd suggest holding the flex plate up against the converter while it is still out of the car, put the 3 bolts that will fit in, and then scribe the flex plate at the 4th hole where it needs...

Need some guidance on transmission/flexplate/torque convertor

Ask the parts stores if they sell Daaco remanufactured torque converters. I put one like in the link below in a 71 Challenger with a warmed up 360 LA motor. The one in the link is the same specs as a Chrysler Hemi "J" converter. It worked well in my car. It's enough converter, but not so much...

Need some guidance on transmission/flexplate/torque convertor

Existing 5.9 Magnum flex plate, 72 non weighted converter that is in your 727, oblong 1 hole in the Magnum flex plate so it will bolt up. No extra cost, just a few minutes labor ratting the one hole out. Well, maybe a little cost....buy a new front seal for the 727.

99 Magnum Roller Cam Oil Pump Driveshaft

If Howards grinds their roller cams on Billet blanks, I would go with their recommendation. My hydraulic roller came from Bullet Cams and was ground on a new cast iron Magnum blank, so I can run a stock intermediate shaft. With a billet blank, you will either need one harder than Chinese...

    Pulley question

If you find a PS pump and bracket in the JY, get the bolts that go thru the timing cover and go into the block. I think it's the 2nd bolt from the bottom that is critical as far as length goes. If the bolt is too long, it will crack the #1 cylinder! That usually only occurs when you remove PS...

    Fan question

If you're swapping to a V belt system, that means you will be swapping timing covers so you can run an LA water pump. You should be able to pick up a fan that will work in the parts for sale section here. Your /6 fan may even work if it's big enough, but a clutch fan would be ideal. Look for...

    fuel system cheating

If you've got an old beat up or rusty A body gas tank laying around, cut the top off of it and do all of your fitment trial and error with that so you can see what you're doing. If you make it fit well there, all you gotta do is install it in the tank you are really using and peep thru the fill...

Magnum motor with Mechanical fuel pump ?

I didn't get a new woodruff key with the cam. I bought a hardware kit for the bolts and oil dripper for the chain, that also had 2 keys in it. The one for an LA cam is a mile too long and the other one a half mile. The only woodruff keys I have found are also too long and maybe a little too tall...

Magnum motor with Mechanical fuel pump ?

Has anyone here actually used the Hughes extender? I had to get my hydraulic roller for my 273 ground on a Magnum blank because that was all that Bullet had at the time. I'm having a helluva time finding a woodruff key to fit the cam keyway and also work with the extender. I called Hughes today...

    Parts needed and compatibility

There's more room under the doghouse of a Dodge van with a small block than you would think. It wouldn't be any, if much harder to get the valve springs off than it would to get the head bolts loose. As far as the Magnum motor goes, if you can get every piece of the wiring under the hood of...

    /6 to magnum mount options

@EvanS When you get the mounts squared away, and if you're gonna use headers instead of exhaust manifolds....you may have to grind one of the mid mount engine mount bosses to clear a header tube on the drivers side. That may be dependent on the brand of headers you use. Just wanted to throw it...

    PCM Questions for a Swap

I may be wrong, but I think the security deal occurs when the donor had a chip key. I have a 2004 Dakota, and it does not have a chip key...so I think you will be good. Are you going to use your existing harness? I have a low mile 5.9 from a 1998 3500 pickup that was a stick truck. I will be...

First Start Video, 64 Cuda Magnum EFI Swap, kinda ClickBait

Awesome! Thanks for the heads up the link was fixed. Was the harness very hard to fix once you got some help? I have a low mile 5.9 I want to put in my 88 Dodge pickup, and have every under hood wire and fuse box from the 98 3500 it came out of. Just haven't jumped on it to get it done yet.

    Tone/Reluctor ring

What engine is it for? A 5.2 is internally balanced, but a 5.9 has weight added to the flex plate. Could you not just Super Glue washers that are thick enough to prevent the bind to the torque converter lugs?

    Oil pan ?

A 360 LA oil pan fits both a 5.2 and 5.9 Magnum. You need to do something a little different with the corners on the seals, but I don't recall what it is.
