    Question on Suspension parts.....

F arms dont fit anything but F, M and J bodies. ditto on the bushings. The upper ball joint is the same as the large A body. The spindles do fit A bodies. I have a set on my Demon.

Were all 8 1/4" rears large bolt pattern?

Yup...8.25 was large bolt pattern only and 73 model year and newer for A bodies. The 7.25 was available in both bolt patterns 73-76, small bolt only 72 back. 8.25 was not available for the A bodies before 1973.

Rubber Pad on 8 3/4 Spring setup?

I'm going to go with cobbled to fit, final answer:D I've not seen any A bodies with original factory isolators on the leafs. I didnt think they were used on any A's, but I sure dont know everything. The rubber piece you describe sounds like one half of the F,M,J isolator. Not designed to be...

Rubber Pad on 8 3/4 Spring setup?

F,M,J and late B bodies were iso mount leafs, 1976 thru 88 anyways. Big honkin pieces of steel wrapped around rubber pads with the leaf sandwiched inbetween and clamped to the axle. 7.25, and 8.25 rears.

    Some strut bushing info

I didnt see anything specific about "oi81's" employment....just that he worked in a r&d shop...cycling spherical rod ends and GM suspension components for the last 30 years.

Any word on these? Sure be a handy part number to have on site. I've checked my sources with no luck. Suppliers I dealt with 40 years ago aren't there anymore. Thanks.

    Some strut bushing info

No, I'm not asking how Googles does it. Might be interesting though... I'm asking for the part number for the NAPA 73-76 A body rubber strut rod bushing you mentioned getting. Not the MOOG. Got those on the shelf. Thanks.

    Some strut bushing info

I understand the process you go through. Pretty much the same. I'm asking for the NAPA part number for 73 to 76 strut rod bushings. Any NAPA's in my area only have the 67 to 72 one piece and sell it as 67 to 76. They don't show a 73 to 76 piece online or on the phone when I called. They can't...

Not the MOOG, got those. I'm asking about the NAPA branded part number for 73-76.

Understood. Next time you order the NAPA branded bushings for a 73-76 A body a picture of the packaging/part number would be awesome, thanks.

maybe I misunderstood... I thought you were getting a napa branded 73-76 strut bushing set as well as the 7068 moog piece. that would be a good number to have out there as another option for the 73 up guys.

How about the NAPA 73 up bushing part number? Not moog.

I'm curious...whats that supposed to mean? "which I would not have shown you" I'd hate to think you'd withold info from the board over some arguement you seem to have with another member just so he wouldnt get the info. Seems pretty silly.

I'd think one could take some kind of 3/4" rasp bit and carefully open these up enough to fit 73 up. Lots of material in there.

    ????? /6 to V8 ?????

I used a 73 up slant 6 spool K member and linkages in my 72. Schumacher slant to 360 mounts. Spool K is easy to convert and the mounts/stands take up less space than a V8 spool or either biscuit style. 73 up steering gear joints point down (pitman arm, idler arm, etc.) not up, so center link...

Which Tilt Steering Column in Your A Body?

I've got an F body column in my 72 Demon. swapped the firewall plates. F uses a rag joint so assembly is easier. tilt was an option for the F's.

A-body vs fmj spindle for handling?

F M J's were produced in the radial era. Required a little different suspension geometry, yes? I run em, work fantastic, plenty of woah w manual pedal. Sold a couple dozen sets for A conversions.

my calipers are to big they hit on the lower control arm ?

Which type caliper...Slider or pin? Had same issue with pin mount calipers. Swapping side to side does not solve.

Can 1979 Cordoba/300 spindles be used on older A/B bodies?

Swap spindles side to side to change caliper location .
  28. Jimacuda

can i use 74 b body calipers on the 67 -72 lower arms

Spindles will work. Its the location on the caliper it attaches to that interferes with the A body lower control arm. A line change wouldnt fix it, needs to attach in a different spot on the caliper for the A bodies.
  29. Jimacuda

can i use 74 b body calipers on the 67 -72 lower arms

Those specific calipers, no they wont. I believe there are one or two applications with the hose in a good spot for pin calipers the A's. There was a thread on it a year or so ago.

    upper control arms

73 up the lower ball joint is the same drum or disc. 72 back has 3(?) different balljoints depending on disc or drum and what size drum.
