How do I find members in my local area (FL Panhandle)?

I replaced the oil pressure sending unit within the last 6 months - but I’ll re-check it for a leak when I get my car back from paint shop.

How do I find members in my local area (FL Panhandle)?

Mark - I just talked with Ed Hillman - super nice guy. He’s not in a position to pull the engine but sounds like he’d be a great guy and loyal Mopar person to offer advice and, if necessary, to handle the engine work. I’ll continue to see what my options are - including someone local to pull...

How do I find members in my local area (FL Panhandle)?

I would be interested in getting contact info for the guy in Cantonment FL. I just searched that area and came across a place called “Car City Engine & Machine” in Pensacola. Ever hears of them? I called and they seemed willing to pull, rebuild, and replace the engine for a reasonable price...

How do I find members in my local area (FL Panhandle)?

Interesting idea to clean thru the idle enrichment screws. The carb is so easy to unbolt and remove that I’ve always pulled it to clean it. I recently had two cases of rough idle and finding a dusty looking debris in the carb bowls. I decided that I was getting rust from the tank so I pulled...

How do I find members in my local area (FL Panhandle)?

The gasket change, etc would probably be a good idea before going further. I’ve been dealing with this leak for 10+ years and I know that I cleaned and inspected a long time ago. Memory serves me that the leak was originating on the back side of the engine between the block and the firewall...

How do I find members in my local area (FL Panhandle)?

I’m going to continue my search for a shop that is reputable and has some history with older cars. Last resort will be to pull the engine myself and take it, perhaps, to the machine shop in Crestview that will rebuild the engine (but won’t pull the engine). There’s also the option to do...

How do I find members in my local area (FL Panhandle)?

I keep striking out. I called Bryan’s and they no longer do repairs - only towing. I looked at them on Google maps and saw an old duster - same color and strip kit as mine - sitting behind their fence rusting away.

How do I find members in my local area (FL Panhandle)?

Unfortunately it seems like he’s no longer in business. The phone number didn’t work and I then called a local shop (Crestview Machine) where they knew Kevin - they had the same number - but someone there said he’d had some health problems and his shop was not open. If nothing else - maybe...

How do I find members in my local area (FL Panhandle)?

I failed to mention options….Other than the Twister appearance package - there were no options…. No AC. No power steering… no disc brakes….. 3 speed manual on the floor. If I had it to do over again….I’d sure spend a few bucks extra for power steering..

Hello Mark. Do you have any recommendations in your area? I‘m about an hour from you in Valparaiso, FL.

How do I find members in my local area (FL Panhandle)?

The car is currently getting a fresh paint job. I took this picture approximately 3 years ago. I seem to have misplaced my 2012 photos when the car had a great new paint job. (At least the paint job looked good for a few years. Turned out that there were some issues at the primer level which...

How do I find members in my local area (FL Panhandle)?

I have a 1971 318 that I’m ready to have rebuilt. I’d be perfectly happy with an engine that performed like it did when I drove it off the car lot in 1971. I don’t know how to find a reputable shop to do the rebuild in my area and thought it would be good if I could find a way to reach out to...

Advice vs pros and cons of engine flush

I should probably start a new thread with a more appropriate title for the engine rebuild or replacement question.

Advice vs pros and cons of engine flush

I’ve been silent for a while - just back home after a couple of weeks out of town. I appreciate all of the responses and suggestions. I will try a number of the suggestions. FYI - I just pulled the dipstick and the oil is pretty clean. It’s probably been over a year since the last oil change...

Advice vs pros and cons of engine flush

You may be correct - but I’m pretty sure that the parts list for my engine rebuild included a cam. That would put approximately 60,000 miles on the cam. Would it wear down that quickly?

Advice vs pros and cons of engine flush

Additional info: The engine has good compression and runs smoothly. The only issue I know of is the ticking that I mentioned above.

Advice vs pros and cons of engine flush

I’m hearing a few seconds of “ticking” when I first start my car (1971 318 engine) - guessing it to be a lifter not getting enough oil. My engine was rebuilt around 1990 and I’ve only put about 60000 miles on the engine since then. Much of that time was spent parked mid-way thru that period...

Should I rebuild a "good engine" to fix oil leak?

I'll clean the engine good this weekend and pay attention to where the oil is coming from. I know the valve covers are one source - but I suspect there more going on further down someplace. Unfortunately - my high pressure sprayer (Honda engine) doesn't want to start and that might get me off...

Should I rebuild a "good engine" to fix oil leak?

I've owned since new. My 71 with stock 318 was rebuilt in 1990 approx 70K miles ago. I ran compression check today and low was 146 psi and high was 152 psi. The engine is running great. The problem is that it drips enough oil that it is not welcome in the garage. (I have a new car cover still in...
