Cars do not have to be original hemi cars to race. The lightweight Corning glass is probably unobtainium but I believe brand new repro windshields are thinner than the originals thus saving a few pounds. Maybe all repro glass is thinner. Dunno. Usually less material=less cost to manufacture.
