Educate me on why 340 fan is not symmetrical

IIRC, generally it is better to have an odd number of blades, fins, etc. Chrysler Engineers were very thorough in designing all the elements of a car. You can bet your fan was thoroughly tested and refined to the Nth degree before it was released for production.

Broken blower motor bolts 66 Valiant

I think I would cut the stub off and grind it flush with the plate. Then I would get s standard fully threaded hex head screw of the correct length . Try not to use a Chinasium screw because the "steel" is sh*t. Grind the head down so it's only about 1/16" high. Put it in place and weld in 3...

Few questions on radiator tube size

Original Mopar radiators are brass not copper. Brass is a copper/zinc alloy. Brass conducts heat almost 50% poorer than aluminum. Don't beat me up. Above is from pg 55 of current Mopar Action magazine, June 2021. You'll do fine with either 1" or 1-1/4" tubes but as already mentioned, pay...

    1964 heater box picture needed

Thank you Ulf! I see it now. Everything physically fits but the defroster and temperature door operation is reversed. In other words CCW to close should be CW. Heater off should be the default with the dash control pushed in, but it's opposite. Pictures are the number stamped on the box and...

    1964 heater box picture needed

I restored the heater box that came with my 1964 Valiant and finally getting around to installing it. I'm working from the 64 Factory Service Manual to attach the 3 control cables but things just don't seem right. The hand drawn diagram for the cable hook-up in the FSM is a little vague as the...

Need picture of 64 Val heater box

Cancel that request. The pic in the 64 Valiant FSM is wrong. The heater box I pulled out is pretty much the same as the 1968 in my basement so I'm good.

Need picture of 64 Val heater box

Pictures are of my 64 Valiant heater box. I cleaned and rebuilt it but one of the control cable brackets is missing. I believe that it is for the temp control door. The shaft is between the heater core copper tubes. No clue why or how it got broken in the possession of the previous owner but I...

Early Vent Door Hinge Repairs (and Kryptonite rivets)

My 64 Val did not have a driver side door, only a balled up towel stuffed in the cavity. It was never a high priority for me so it was like that for a few years before I fixed it last summer. I rebuilt the heater box at the same time. Anyway I bought some 65 Barracuda seats ($50) from a member...

    Rad and fan combo

A hot day in Canada? If I had a real Formula S and was dead set on an aluminum radiator I'd go with a Cold-case and paint it black. One of the vendors here. Don't be fooled by the old 3row 4row BS. Dual 1" to 1-1/4" tubes are better. There are also alum rads on eBay that have an optional black...

    Anyone remake a stock-looking radiator?

Take a look at Cold-case, a vendor here. Their radiators are aluminum but they stamp their upper tanks to look stock. Painted black, they claim it's hard to tell from stock.

Cold Case w/ electric fan vs factory fan and shroud

@72bluNblu Can you post pictures of your Champion/Contour fan combo? I need a cooling system for my 5.7 project. No fan belts on these things. I agree a good factory radiator and fan will keep a 318 cool. I'd drive my 68 318 with factory cooling anywhere in the country. These things have worked...

    Heater box

Welcome. I would say just about any A-body 1967 or newer. The "hinge" on the vent door tends to rust up and next thing you know, snap goes the plastic housing. I have fixed them though. Post a picture. If it's too far gone, you can find a used one here. You can rebuild them with parts from...

1965 valiant heater wiring question: what's this wire?

Runs behind glove box then behind kick panel where it is grounded with a screw.

    Cable connection on heater control

I took pictures of my 64 Valiant before taking it completely apart. (see photos) I remember my 68 and 69 cuda heater controls are very similar, if not exactly the same. Move the heater control levers on the dash to see which is which. You'll get the general idea.

    Cleaning plastics

X2. The yellow is going to be through the part, not just on the surface. Most of them are re-popped and the whiteness is shocking.

    Fan Advice

Looks like you are in CA. I think I'd check some boneyards and look for a 70's era V-8 Mopar. It looks to me like Direct Connection (Mopar Performance) sometimes take older production pieces and slap a new PXXXXX part number on it. These junkyard fans show up at Mopar swap meets too.

    Fan Shroud Questions

I'm pretty sure the upper rad tanks on earlier A-bodies like your 68 are rounded. Later, the tanks became squared-off on top. If you are thinking of a stock style shroud, this would affect the fit between the shroud and radiator. The stock ones were being re-popped for awhile. Don't know if they...
