    new to the game

There are lots of builds in this section of FABO. You should spend some time reading through several of them. Do you already have an engine? There are differences between the truck and car version. You really need to provide more info. G3 and 67 cuda is pretty broad. Holley makes mounts and...

TR6060 and TB suspension? Any info on the starter interference?

Holley has one kit for all G3 and it moves the engine/trans 1-3/4" forward. That is NOT required for the 5.7. It helps on the 6.4 because of the variable intake manifold clearance with the firewall. Curtdog510 on here pocketed his firewall for clearance and retained the stock wiper system...

    6.1 Swap into a 68 Dart

The current issue of Mopar Action (June, 2023) shows how they fabbed a cable-type kick down linkage for a 727-A trans and G3 Hemi. Most of it was Lokar kit 2727HT60 from Summit with other misc parts. Car is a 69 Dart with Holley mounts. I believe they are using a stock throttle cable and column...

Alternator Relocation to avoid frame rail

I've been struggling with routing the oil lines to a remote oil filter I'm hoping to locate on the right side frame rail between the rad and the front of the strut rod. I'm using TTI spool mounts on a 73-76 A-body. The problem is getting (2) -10 hoses past the stock 2014 alternator. I was...

    Best Swap Transmission?

My first choice would be the modern 8 speed automatic. If you're going this far, and keeping the car for awhile, may as well go all in. Good acceleration in the lower gears, almost imperceptible shifts, and good cruising gears. Sound German has you covered, ask for his recommendation. It's big...

'70 Dart 392 Project; what direction?

3/16" dia steel lines. My 68 has 73-75 a-body discs on front, 10x2-1/2 tear drums. I've tried 15/16, 1-1/32 and 1-1/8 MC's. The smaller one had the best overall feel. I switched to an aluminum 1-1/8 and hated the very hard pedal. I would sometimes use both feet on the wide brake pedal. Now I...

    6.4 Stock-Style airbox?

I've wondered about the same thing. I thought a factory one could be cut down and contoured to seal against the underside of the hood with a rubber seal. Otherwise I was going to fab one similar to what @CurtDawg510 used on his Duster.

    which header to use

As Gold said, If you're referring to 71 PS box then no way will that work. Manual box fits. If you really need PS then Borgeson PS box fits. Another alternative is electric power steering assist mounted under dash with manual box.

    Swap mounts

With that much power, 67-72 sandwich style insulators would most likely come apart. Correction, they will come apart. You need the interlocking style insulators as a minimum because the new repros are not as good as the originals. Spool type are stronger and have the fail safe thru bolt...

Alternator Relocation to avoid frame rail

I have a 1/4" aluminum plate I could use but I prefer to keep things neat and simple. Cut to shape and 6 holes should do it. In all the history of Hot Rod engine swaps (Caddy engine in 51 Ford, that kind of stuff) Shaving a frame flange 6" is very minor and this lowly 318 car will never go...

Alternator Relocation to avoid frame rail

The engine is out of a wrecked 2014 Challenger so yes, pass car cover with 3 bolt alternator. Yes, it does have the "swing boss" but the hole is untapped and blind. Easy enough to drill through. I've looked at pictures of the Jeep alternator on Rockauto and it shows a lower through hole which...

Alternator Relocation to avoid frame rail

DIY Hemi (now Sublime) posted a video where they used a 2005-06 Jeep alternator on their car timing cover. See picture of the red E-body. The boss is already on the cover and there is another lower bolt that they don't show. This was on an early 2006 (?) Engine. I emailed them and asked if this...

    Let's talk G3 hemi cams

I've been buying my factory Mopar parts from Eastcoastmoparts.com a dealership in MD. I find they have the best prices and I get the goods in less than 10 days. The stock 6.4 cam was about $237. And keep this vewy qwiet but with anything I buy from Summit, Jegs, or EBay, I pay 8% sales tax...

    Let's talk G3 hemi cams

I'm putting a 2014 Challenger 5.7 in my 68 keeping the VVT with TTI headers. My intent was to get it running in the car and worry about mods later. I was just going to replace the lifters, install MDS plugs and call it good. But my gearhead son shamed me into a cam swap while it's on the stand...

I think I saw that Hooker has cast log-type turbo manifolds for G3.

    engine harness for $$$

I'm finally getting serious about my 5.7 swap. I've been collecting parts for 2 years and one of the first things I bought was the Mopar swap harness with ECM and Power Module. My plan was, and has been to run a basically stock 5.7. The ECM is unlocked and is comparable to a 2016 Challenger and...

Fuel Mileage on your Hemi swap?

Yeah I saw that previously. What I'd like to see is someone with a running driving 5.7 then later going to a 6.4 cam. A direct comparison between a stockish 5.7 then the same car with a 6.4 cam. Your builds had a 6.4 cam from the get go, so no A to B..

Fuel Mileage on your Hemi swap?

I have a 2014 5.7 for my 68 cuda. Staying with VVT, using TTI headers and Tremec TKX. I have 3.23, 3.55 and 3.91 center sections for the 8-3/4. Before I really get serious, I've been wondering what a 6.4 cam swap would do to mileage. Hate to leave 40HP or so on the table but 400 true HP is...

    5.7 Crank Tight Spot

Another thing you could try is just setting the crank in the block without caps using upper bearing shells only in first and last saddles. Rig up a dial indicator and check for run out at other main journals. Bent crank could be the reason for the spun bearing.

    1964-66 A body Gen 3 motor mounts

Silver Sport Transmissions casts their own aluminum BH that fits G3 and Mopar SB. Machined for Ford pattern Tremec TKO. If TKO has same bolt pattern as T56, that should work.

    Vvt lock or not

Hmmm. I just checked P5160074 springs and they have been discontinued. Looks like they were a complete set of 16. I'll have to check if they are available individually.

    Vvt lock or not

Edsrt, nice job on the install! You are so close to driving it! So, when going to the 6.4 cam in a 5.7; it sounds like the 5.7 valve retainers can be reused? I'm using a 2014 Challenger R/T donor. Going to keep the VVT but not the MDS.

    1970 Dodge Dart 6.2 Hellcat Swap @ HRDW 2021

2006 jeep vs 2007 Chrysler 300 Hemi difference

I would think it would be safe to use the long block from the 300. (Short block assy with heads) Just use the intake, timing cover and accessories from the Jeep. You might run this by someone like MMX or DIYHemi to be sure.

Hemi engine swap..is it worth it

It's as easy as unplugging the MDS. Or since the engine is apart, get the factory block off plugs for the solenoids and remove them. (4 req'd) Plan on getting new roller lifters for insurance. ALL factory lifters sold today are "Hellcat" for increased durability. Eastcoastmoparts.com has the...

64-65 Hemi swap? Anyone do it with the stock K-Member?

I didn't realize your car was so far along. I assumed you were starting from scratch. Check out Blake's videos here. There is one showing the smaller Jeep alternator mounted in a different location. This avoids frame rail notching which is not the big deal everyone makes it in my opinion...

64-65 Hemi swap? Anyone do it with the stock K-Member?

You are concentrating on physically fitting the engine but don't forget the exhaust! And steering shaft! And removing most of the trans tunnel! On 67 and newer swaps the steering shaft just barely clears the rear-most valve cover lower corner. That's after shortening the approx 2-1/4" tube that...

    5.7 crank end-play

Per the specs in the back of Shepard's book, crank end play range is .002-.011 for all G3 engines.

    5.7 crank end-play

I don't think Plymouth 65 realizes G3 Hemis use TTY main cap bolts. AND smaller cross bolts on all 5 caps. A main cap will not move unless the cross bolts are also loosened. The cross bolts are not TTY (21 ft-lbs) The thrust is taken by #3 but the bearing is not flanged like a typical engine...

Will a GEN III Hemi fit into a 71 Demon engine bay? Will stock suspension work?

The physical block size is the same for 5.7, 6.1 and 6.4. The flow numbers for stock Eagle heads are phenomenal. It's a fact that a dressed 5,7 is about 70 lbs lighter than a small block Mopar. Aluminum heads, plastic intakes, etc. Not much maintenance needs to be done, theoretically comparable...
