Steve,, I know you already picked up some filters but here's mine. I repurposed the Cuda's old slightly rusty 14" air cleaner..opening at the bottom, cardboard shield keeps the bondo and grinding dust from falling on the filter. works!! :canada:
doubt it was the ram,, probably over tightened the bleed screw and destroyed the needle/seat. At full extend the fluid goes over a relief, like your floor jack. Cant be over extended unless it is faulty first. imo.
If you work in the garage,, isn't it harder to slid under the car with the sand grit in the paint? Like a bare concrete floor would be? Don't have a lift.

you just became a little better engineer,,,, channel will twist,, square tubing stroooooonger in all directions. The only issue now are your welds,,,LOL good job!
call me extravagant or foolish but I bought a comp cam 4799 at summit for my LA sm. great tool. Made of steel. Rotate engine forward or back with out loosening crank bolt and mount degree wheel separately undisturbed. 1/2" drive. Set screw has a brass extension to not mark crank. 3 key ways...
