The stud idea is a good one. You need to be careful when drilling and tapping what we call a blind hole. You can use Loctite 609 to hold the stud in.

Whatever you are taping need to have at least 3 threads to hold. It's better to have at least 5 but 3 is all that actually hold the part.

You may want to check on the heat pump. Some have a minimum temp they will operate in. I think 35-40 might be as low as you can safely use them. If you don't get colder that would be a great way to go as you get both heat and cool. You would need some duct work but that's not hard. The unit you...

Doesn't look like the eastwood stands. User is using a jack stand to hold up the car after rolling on its side. I would guess homemade and as long as you are careful could be used safely. I would be leary of using something heavy.
