    BIG piston deck clearance issue

Did you get drunk and put both bearings on the rod side? Sorry, that's the only possible explanation I can produce on such short notice.

budget street motor 360 or 383 for 71 duster

It is. If you get to do the aluminum on the big block then you get to do aluminum on the small block. Fair is fair.

budget street motor 360 or 383 for 71 duster

All things being equal the difference will be barely noticeable. That's using the standard formula for torque being Force times Lever. The longer stroke of a 360 will just about compensate for the larger bore of the 383. It won't equal the torque but when you factor in the weight of the 383...

First Engine Build - Advice Needed

First thing I would ask is why you're doing it yourself. If you're doing it because you want to do it yourself, that's good and more power to you. There's lots of help here. If you're doing it yourself to save money, you won't save much.

Question for those that swapped a big block into their A body.

Yes. Does the extra torque of a big block offset the added weight?

Question for those that swapped a big block into their A body.

I'm well aware of that. What's the point of a big block if you can't generate the torque required to lift a hundred more pounds?

Question for those that swapped a big block into their A body.

On the subject of "up in the air" I went to youtube and watched the 440 Darts and Dusters. Very few of them were pulling the wheels like the small blocks that were running comparable ETs. That would be the deciding factor for me. It can be done, but it's lotsa more money.

    426 Hemi

    Where did that come from????

    426 Hemi

Well, this is America. I don't have to like the Hemi. It's not that I dislike them, they're fine engines. I just have better things to do with my money. Like the Harley. All nice and well, I just feel it's best to get the same thing or better for half the price. Nonetheless, it's still...

    426 Hemi

Not really ever been a Hemi fan. Nor a big block fan for that matter. I've been more about power gained per dollar spent. It can't get much worse than the Hemi. I'd like to take half the cost of a stock crate Hemi and sink it into a 360 based stroker. I'd run circles around the Hemi.

    What's a good price for a HEMI?

What does "untouched" mean? Of course. You don't want my opinion on a Hemi price anyway.

    Talk me into Fenderwell Headers

I bet if Chevys had this problem there's be a flood of copies. Us red headed step children just don't have it like that.

    Talk me into Fenderwell Headers

It is outrageous. I'm waiting patiently for some cheapo company like Hedman to make some copies that are a little more affordable.

Is my rear end strong enough

They're stronger than a 741. At least they have a larger pinion shaft. It doesn't mean they're stronger but they should at least be comparable. Gears matter. The lower the gears, the less stress they are subject to. What tires?? Slicks at the track or street tires on the street? Last is the...

    413 swap

Direct answer is yes. The K-Frame will hold up to the 413 and there's not much it won't hold up to. Once you get that 413 up into the 500Hp-600Hp (or more) range you'll find that the K-Frame will still be strong enough.
