I ordered from them, but I think he said they're Speed-Pro?? I could be way off but I do remember it being a common brand. Said theyve been using them for decades and have no issues. He said they were solid shaped lifters. I can't remember the brand.

Haha yes, Hughes just scoffed at the fact and Engle said someone must be smoking something to put Chevy taper on a Mopar LOL. Definitely will check taper from here on. Update: I measured several times and even had one of my techs measure to make sure what I was seeing was correct. Taper was all to the same side as predicted. I'm assuming 12 times. I was hating every second it wouldn't start so it may have been less times actually. The longest cranking session was at the most 5 seconds. It really pissed me off having to do that.

Where exactly would I make the comparative measurements?

As stated before I already re-ordered the same camshaft. I will definitely reinstall the cam and see how it centers with the lifter bores as suggested. Do you think it was just a fluke grind? Or do you suggest another more trusted manufacturer? I was really hoping to stick with this grind.

I agree, I went back and forth with the EFI tech support. Then told them I was done pissing around with their product and threw the carburetor on it. I knew that was a factor that's why I was very clear about relaying the information.

FWIW, I also noticed my timing chain seems to have stretched. I don't remember it having as much slop as it does now.

The cam is a Hughes Engines cam. I went with them because it seems theyre consistently the better product, more specialized in Mopar engines. I don't have access to anyone with a lathe locally. No machine shops any more around here.

I added a pic of the whole cam. Engine is a 340. What would cause the lifter to ride the edge like that?

Cam wear is consistently leaning towards the back end of the cam. I though that was weird too. Is that the result of the rear cam plug being too shallow? Not even sure if it makes contact with the about of the cam. The cam is a Hughes grind and yes they’re EDM lifters. What would be the...

My process exactly, down to the brand of oil! except this one sat for 3 years! not the 2 years I originally posted LOL. It was likely a combination of factors I needed to hear from experienced people to help figure it out.

Wouldn't coil bind exhibit backfiring or misfire at higher rpm? This thing ran beautifully and was a killer on top end

I am with you on your opinion, that is what I believe happened. engine start up was attempted at least 12 times with EFI, probably went another 2 weeks until the carb was installed and fired up. Being the situation i'm in I am considering just taking out the inner spring for break in either way...

Assumption is correct, break in was done with both springs installed. Not too sure on what spring pressure is currently being used. I ordered spring pressure tool to verify but cam calls for 360 lbs at full lift
