    Big block and A/C?

Any big block owners with A/C out there? In particular those that are installing units on non-factory AC cars. If so what system did you use and what other options are you running? I'm thinking of buying an aftermarket unit and wanted to know what others are using. Are there any clearance issues...

AC compressor replaced, too much oil?

I recently replaced the compressor and dryer/receiver on my truck. A rep for the company that supplied the compressor said that it was not filled with oil but merely enough to wet the parts. When charging the system I installed five ounces of oil in combination with just under 2 pounds of...

    Best way to cool it?

+1, get a mechanical gauge and check your actual temperature first. Who knows, your dash gauge just might be wacked and you may not need a thing. (?)

    Best way to cool it?

I found that a high volume water pump and HV thermostat, like the one offered by Milodon, made a huge difference in operating temperatures on my car.

    Leaky Thermostat Housing...

I have not, but I've read good reviews about the billet piece. It requires no sealant. I've always used the factory pieces and have had no issues whatsoever.

    Leaky Thermostat Housing...

If it was one of those chrome pieces from Mancini the best fix is to throw it away and use a factory piece or a billet piece like you have.

Heater Fan Motor Mod for Added Engine Bay Clearance

Sounds like some good insurance, a little RTV and you should have no problems. That motor looks short enough that you may not have to clearance the box for the squirrel cage. Keep us updated.

Heater Fan Motor Mod for Added Engine Bay Clearance

That looks good Donnie, that motor may be a viable option. The only thing I see that may present a problem is, the case appears to be unsealed and the wires exit the motor on the opposite end. It may not be a problem but if water gets in the hole where the wires are fed through or at the end cap...

Heater Fan Motor Mod for Added Engine Bay Clearance

I`ve heard of people trying to use the rear defroster motor in place of the heater blower motor for this mod but the rear defroster motor has a smaller diameter shaft and the case is not sealed, making it unsuitable for exterior use.

Do i have the right clutch fan

The Mopar Performance fan clutch is great. The Jag part (Hayden?) has a short shaft and has been used on big block cars where fan clutch/radiator clearance is an issue. The Mopar piece has a longer shaft on it and would be more appropriate for application on a small block.

Second Detroit Muscle, and as Jeff said you can find them on Ebay. They sell gaskets for practically everything Mopar.

Sounds interesting, you`ll have to post some pics of that when you get ready to install it.

A/C on the hot rod cruiser

Yes it`s been awful. I missed the last TMC bbq/show and Mopar Madness at Dinwiddie. I`ve also experienced two deaths in the family in as many months. Needless to say I`ve had quite the sh*tty summer. I think the only work I`m going to do on the car will happen in an air conditioned garage. How...

A/C on the hot rod cruiser

Thanks Ken, I`ll check those guys out too. Is anybody out there running an aftermarket system or are all of you guys hard-core muscle car fanatics, that wouldn`t be caught dead with an air compressor on your car?

A/C on the hot rod cruiser

Yellowdartdave, I see you`re in Florida. A/C is a must there. LOL! Great car Dave! One thing I`ve noticed with the Vintage Air system is the fact that they use the opening for the heater motor to run the plumbing through the firewall. With a raised block (440) there`s very little room to get...

A/C on the hot rod cruiser

How many of you guys are running A/C on your hot-rodded cruiser? I`m thinking of adding it to my 68 Barracuda. The car is driven mostly in the summer when all of the shows are in swing but here in southeastern Va. it gets very hot and humid. It`s great to go cruising but no fun at all when...

Fan clutch question for a bigblock A body

Thanks 70Duster440 for the part# confirmation, and likewise I have maybe 1/2" clearance from the radiator but I do have an aftermarket HD radiator. You may have a bit more if you use a stock radiator.

    Big Block Cooling System Questions

The overflow hose should go out to the passenger side. Your bottom hose should clear the filter. You should probably try to find one that fits better. As Matthon stated the proper rad # should be 2949065. If the last two digits are 66,67, 0r 68 then the rad is from a small block car. Big block...

    Front "Wing" good for 15 - 20 F COOLER

I`ve been told that light colored cars received a cursory painting as standard treatment and dark colored cars got nothing unless it was requested. I can`t find anything on it, I think I`ll start another thread.

    Front "Wing" good for 15 - 20 F COOLER

No, I`m not certain of anything when it comes to what Chrysler did. It does seem the treatment became more of a standard around `70 but nothing is consistent through model, make, or plant. I`ve personally had 14 Mopars and all but two were body color. These range from 67-73 A, B, and E models...

    Front "Wing" good for 15 - 20 F COOLER

The paint behind the grille probably is correct. Most of these car have a radiator core support that is the same color as the body. The blacked out core support is an optional treatment. guzzimike, that`s a nice modification for the money. I`ve seen the "Spoilers by Randy" and thought about...

Jacksautoparts has an E-body fastener that is real close to the original. Unless you`re doing a concourse restoration you should be happy with the set.
