just out of the paint booth

The steering coupler can be rebuilt, people like Bouchillon stock the rebuild kits. http://www.bouchillonperformance.com/BPE2217.asp

Looks like you dipped it, very nice! Were rallye wheels made for A-bodies or what?

    68 Barracuda Thumbwheel Radio question.

You might be able to access the screws through the thumbwheel holes if you loosen it. You should have one in the rear too that attaches the back of the radio to the inside edge of the dashboard. Welcome to the site Mopardude68.

    1968 Barracuda Formula S

Nice looking for being an upstate N.Y. car. Many of those cars are rusted out pretty bad but this one looks quite good. Looking at the firewall it may have been a QQ1 blue car, and it had A/C to boot. It looks like it`s all there save the compressor. I like this one! 8K sounds fair but as the...

    1968 Barracuda Formula S

In `68 the Formula-S Barracuda was available with either a 340 small block (which most were) or a 383 big block. The fifth letter of the VIN will give you the engine code P=340, H=383. Four speed cars seem to bring a premium, convertibles are also pricey. Try to bargain, the market is soft now...

I was thinking the same thing. Great story oldschool! It is true, you can still experience southern hospitality here in Va..

    Speedo Cable

The next generation (67-69) is 63" I believe and likely closer to what you need. I bought one for my 67 at the local Advance Auto. I got the one you`re referring to first (80"?) and returned it for the shorter one.

    speakers for a 'cuda(early A BODY)

The trunk divider makes the perfect foundation for a killer sound system in a fastback, but who wants to cut one up? I like what the PO did with yours. I`ve thought of removing the original panel in my Barracuda and making a replacement with just what I want in it but for now I`ve settled for...

how do i tell if my engine is

Yup, before 68 it`s a crap shoot. As the guys have said, casting dates within a few months of the build date should be adequate on an early A.

Iam having trouble with my 273 v/8 and a push button tranmission

You can actually get under the car and move the shifting lever on the transmission to the center position ( 3rd click either way is neutral). Once you`ve done that, move to the front of the engine and put a wrench on the large bolt inside the pulley on the crankshaft. Give it a turn clockwise...

How much to cut out for fenderwell headers?

Try to contact the header manufacturer or the retailer and see if either one has a template. They must have access to one somewhere.

How much to cut out for fenderwell headers?

Shouldn`t they come with a template?

How do you know if a 66 barracuda is a formula s or not?

They went to hydraulic cams in `68 and stopped using adjustable rockers at that time. You can find solid cams in the 2 barrel carbureted 273`s as well as the 4 barrel versions.

Where to get 273 Head Gaskets?

A couple years ago I did my 273 and I found a company that did copper gaskets. The bore was closer than any others but they were expensive. I`ll see if I can find the receipt and pass along who it was that made them.

    "Chrome" paint use anybody

I`ve used Mirror Chrome and it`s a very similar product (using a black base coat) followed by the chrome and a clear coat. I thought it resembled polished aluminum more than chrome. There`s just no substitute for vacuum plating.

    Driveshaft question?

There`s a different wheelbase between Darts and Barracudas. It`ll probably have to be cut down.

    Kelsey Hayes disc

That is great news and will probably save a lot of money for people doing a brake swap. Last time I checked, lower ball joints were not cheap and there was a huge difference in price between disc and drum ball joints. FABO and it`s members do it again!

    Kelsey Hayes disc

That`s good information. Are they identical in every other way? Is there any more material in the area around the bolt holes?

    Kelsey Hayes disc

No, the disc and drum lower joints are two different pieces.

    Mysterious 1964 dart rag top????

If the car is rough and has a lot of missing or broken parts, it may be wise to avoid it. As others have mentioned you can empty a bank account pretty fast with a car like that.
