    17" versus 14" tires

The conventional wisdom about more tire choices on 17s may not be quite what it sounds. Yes. there are modern/sticky tires available in 17" but if you're looking for a 17" performance/non drag tire that is taller than 25" (as most of us are) you have your work cut out for you. At least that...

Is there a model for either of these tire sizes that you have in mind? Both sizes seem pretty unusual. I realize that Tire Rack doesn't have everything but I was curious and took a look 305/45/17 I only see one tire, NITTO NT555RII but it looks like a good one. 100 tread wear...can you get...

They look good to me…but it also looks like the OD on those 315s is only 25.7” (give or take). The performance tires seem to max out at this diameter which is too short for most of us. This is the main reason I gave up on my 17s. What’s your final drive ratio?

I painted the Rota RKRs. The original charcoal finish was what I wanted six years ago but after looking at them for so long, it was time to change them up. No regrets so far. Before anyone asks, the rears are 15x8 0 offset and the fronts are custom and not available off the shelf.

I don't know if the situation is any better in Canada but for us in the USA, this is pure cruelty. :D

    Wheel/Tire help

I agree with the comments about each car being a little bit different but this really only matters when you are absolutely maximizing tire width/diameter. There are guidelines that are helpful. One such guideline would be to err on the higher number offset (wheels tucked under) side since a...

I hope they work out for you. Please keep us posted. It appears that they are way out of production so be careful. As you probably know, tires do weaken/fail with age. They could be fine but generally speaking, tires are done at the ~10 year mark regardless of wear. Just a rule of thumb...

I realize that this post is several years old now...but what are those Dunlops? I suspect they're ancient but they look like a performance oriented tire in our kind of aspect ratio with raised white letters and a modern tread pattern. I would gladly try out if they were still available...

    Bf Goodrich brown walls

This is a consistent problem with BFG T/As and an old one at that. The fact that they haven't fixed this known issue for YEARS is par for the course with the world of 15" tires. We're too small of a market for anyone to care and 90% of the buyers don't even realize how poor these tires are in...

    1973 dodge dart 4 door

Don't hold me to this (because I don't have the same fenders as yours) but from what I've read around here, I think people generally get away with 245 section tires on stock offset wheels without significant modifications. Your best bet might be to find someone on the forum with a similar car...

Who is running 15” Avon CR6ZZ?

@Oldmanmopar Your "revenge" disagree marker is funny but I'm glad you're getting the message from that other thread. For the record, I actually disagreed with your comments in the coilover thread, especially the ones where you just swear or say something nasty. Have a great day.

I think the age of this thread answers the question that I'm about to ask but are these an actual performance tire? I guess they're a pretty damn old design even if they are. I called and spoke with a Hoosier tech support guy who gave me very little to go on with these tires. He couldn't say...

    What Happened to Showtime Wheels

Not sure how the laws are in Australia but that seems like potentially libelous material in the USA. If true, I sincerely hope this guy got help. Alcoholism is a monster that takes too many good people.

FINALLY!! Fresh M/T ET Street S/S’s

Actually, we agree. I was being sarcastic. While people actually are turning absurd times on tires that are broadly credited with the reason that muscle cars have pathetic published acceleration times, it's not applicable to anything outside a prepped track. I guess if you put enough glue...

FINALLY!! Fresh M/T ET Street S/S’s

Evidently, unless you’re running 10s, you’re wasting your money on these. People are running low 11s on stock F70-14 bias ply tires these days.

FINALLY!! Fresh M/T ET Street S/S’s

What is it like to drive around on tires like these? Does it make the rear end feel unusually disconnected? I know they are not acceptable for use on the front axle so I assume that comes down to sidewall integrity... Ok. Enough with the culture war stuff. It's not 2020 anymore. Nobody cares.

Quickest/fastest quarter mile on 15 inch "cosmetic" all season tires like BFG T/As (etc)?

I hear you but unless the manufacturer says so, you can't count on them being better than the originals. Besides the "S" speed rating is for the current releases of these tires. Yeah but the rules are pretty straight forward when it comes to tires: 14.01 Wheels must be correct*, including...

Quickest/fastest quarter mile on 15 inch "cosmetic" all season tires like BFG T/As (etc)?

All good points here (and nicely done with your Charger!! :D ). From what I know about how tires fail, I believe you are completely correct about the sustained speed (and heat) being part of the equation but this is not how the DOT speed rating is assigned. It's purely based on a maximum...

Quickest/fastest quarter mile on 15 inch "cosmetic" all season tires like BFG T/As (etc)?

How can this be? I know the rules about the tires but something doesn't add up. Firestone Wide Oval (the tires that came from the factory on the fastest cars in F.A.S.T. racing) are "S" rated which means that they're only approved for 112 mph. Many cars are running well past this. The fastest...

Quickest/fastest quarter mile on 15 inch "cosmetic" all season tires like BFG T/As (etc)?

Tires are everything...with a 2wd car, it is pitifully easy these days to run out of tire LONG before you run out of power. That applies to us in particular since so many of us have V8s and 15" (or smaller) wheels. As we have talked about many times, outside of straight-line-only drag tires...

    American Muscle "Mustang" wheels

The 30mm offset will be pretty close to fitting ok. This is going to be tiresome advice but take a look at what you have and measure how much clearance you have, then look at the specs and see how much the new wheel/tire combo will change the position and determine if it will still work. It's...

So you’re really not looking for the optimal solution for any particular driving style. Just a quick one. E70-14s from Coker Tire should fit with no issues. You could even use stock alignment specs.

Well, it's January which means that my brain is back to chewing up the internet looking for ways to make my Dart Sport drive and handle better before spring time. I suspect I'm not alone in this. Tire options are always evolving (usually for the worse) and wheel aesthetic choices are...

18x8.5 +30 offset all around on 72 duster?

It sounds like you are trying to optimize your tire set up. Keep in mind that the slant six is perfectly capable of wrecking that 7.25 inch rear. More traction may only expedite that process. Whatever you do, plan on being kind to that equipment. That’s all.

Is it getting old yet?? (Will it fit…again)

Meh. We are all entitled to our opinions. I don’t care for silver painted wheels but I will admit that there is nothing wrong with them. I was coming off of tires that rubbed slightly after maxing out the camber in my alignment and it bugged the heck out of me. I wanted to be sure they fit...
