    20psi stock 5.9 carnage

Regarding rarity, it all depends on where you live and where you look (salvage yards vs online). I just moved to northern GA and old-er Mopar engines (Magnums and small blocks) are harder to find but it's reflected on what you see on the roads. Hardly any 1990s or older Dodge trucks or SUVs...

    5.9 magnum with M122 blower/intercooler

That's the biggest one Eaton made, right? I have an M90 on the 3800 V6 in my Park Avenue Ultra. I gutted the baffles out the of the stock air box just so I could hear the whine when I get on it lol. I was thinking of dropping down a pulley size but with how gas is now I don't find myself...

    Lets see those SUPERCHARGER A-Bodies

Carbs and Roots blowers kind of go together, Roots blowers aren't very efficient and whip the air around a lot which heats it up; having the fuel go into the blower with the air cools it down. Gale Banks did an interesting test of a Roots blower on top of a Duramax diesel (it's on YouTube) and...

    Turbo Teen

What about pressure ratio intake to exhaust side, aren't headers better for that? I read in a David Vizard book that most home-fabbed turbo setups can't do better than 2:1 exhaust:intake which is why a low-overlap cam is usually used; the higher pressure on the exhaust side pushes the mixture...

    Turbo Teen

I'd probably do a turbo 318 for the gas mileage, I want a nice bigger cruiser Mopar with some power but driving a big block regularly would kill me on fuel costs. Kind of ironic though the BBM has more head bolts and can handle more boost. A boosted 361 BB would be interesting I wonder what...

    Turbo Teen

I like how you're using a Turbonetics turbo I don't see those very often. It's nice you can find E-85 too, almost all the gas stations around here stopped selling it. Some day I will do a turbo build but I don't think it will be for my Duster, I think a '70s smogger B-body would be my choice...

    318 rebuild for turbocharging

That's certainly nice to hear... N/A stroker would definitely be harder to hit that HP mark living in CO, elevation starts at 5000' where I live and just goes up from there. That's really my motive for going turbo. I already have a set of ARP bolts to put in the stock rods and have them...

    318 rebuild for turbocharging

Well the boost is the main priority, I'm only considering a stroker kit because of the value... that Scat kit comes with dished pistons, +23cc so the compression will still be ok. I'm not set on it though just thinking out loud. Overall I want to push the power up to the 550-600 range (at the...

    318 rebuild for turbocharging

Not gonna reuse my 360 pistons those are actually 4.060" no way they'd fit, plus one is busted. What would you think of me putting one of those Scat 4" stroker kits in it? $1400 for crank (cast), rods, forged pistons, bearings and rings... that's a pretty smashing deal, you think it's a good...

    318 rebuild for turbocharging

I know this is old but I'm bringing it back because my 360 recently took a dump (broke a piston, cracked cylinder) and it looks like I'll be building this 318 sooner than later. I am on a budget but I'm willing to spend extra money on necessary good parts. So how necessary are forged pistons...

    318 rebuild for turbocharging

Ah OK you are right then T56 my understanding of boost reference was wrong I thought they measured with respect to pressure outside the engine. I thought some more about the cam too, I like the idea of a solid flat-tappet with the special lifters that direct oil to the lobe face. Is there any...

    318 rebuild for turbocharging

I hear you T56, sounds like a nice 318 build btw. My understanding is that a compressor takes in air at a certain pressure and increases it by a set amount (boost pressure). If you increase the inlet pressure the turbo will just compress it 10 psi more whether it's 5 or 20 psi going in. I'm...

    318 rebuild for turbocharging

For sure, with a 300-350 HP (at sea level, if I'm lucky) 318 I'd need at least 10 lbs to hit 550, plus a couple on top of that to make up for the lower air density. I'm definitely going with forged pistons that's a no-brainer for me. Another aspect is the cam i'd like to run a roller for...

    318 rebuild for turbocharging

So the original 318 short block out of my '70 Duster is sitting in my garage and for a while I had toyed with the idea of doing a turbo build. It seemed like a far-off dream until I finally got a steady income; now I think I can start putting together a basic plan and it won't just be a...

    Should I supercharge the barracuda?

Your compression is pretty high for boost, I think with a good cam and swapping on those heads you would be over 400 HP easily. The drop in chamber volume brings the compression up a bit to 10.5:1 which might be able to handle a few pounds of boost but not much more by any means.

    Supercharged 410/408 stroker?

Well you're right... I don't really have any evidence to back that up. I just pretty much repeated things I've read and heard from others. Of course I don't like admitting this, but 'blowing hot air' doesn't help anyone. I say this because there are many others on this forum who do this as...

    Supercharged 410/408 stroker?

N/A 408s already push the limits of stock 340/360 blocks, if you really want a serious blown 408 I'd recommend starting with an R-block from Mopar Performance. This is just me but if I was making a blown 408 it would be an R3-W9 (I think, whichever 'W-' heads are aluminum) engine with the...
