With a roots blower, you are running off of the idle circuit around town at part throttle. Try leaning the mixture screws. Do you have 4 corner idling? Pull both carbs and square up the butterflies with the transition slots, then reset your idle speed and mixture. Not sure why you need 10.5...

Big blower on a small block.

Needs the pulleys flipped. Looks whimpy!

Always adjust the belt HOT, not cold! By hot, I mean take the car for an extended drive and bring your 1/2 ratchet, 3 inch extension and 15/16" socket with you. Pull over, shut it off and do it then. You should have 1 1/2" deflection HOT, not cold. If the belt it too tight, it WILL wipe out the...

Never run it at the track like that. You have glow plugs in there. I run side gapped Autolites, a very cold plug you can't even see any porcelain.

Absolutely! The slower you can turn the blower and make the same boost, the more power it will make. Also remember that boost is a measure of unused manifold pressure below the blower. You can improve head flow/camshaft events and LOWER boost and RAISE horsepower! Have fun...

Seal replacement on snout of a 6-71

That is horrible. I would pull the blower off and keep it on the kitchen counter where you can admire it during the long cold winter. I am not kidding!

Seal replacement on snout of a 6-71

You have hours of polishing ahead of you. Sucks getting stuck in the rain, doesn't it? My next blower will be BLACK!

Disagree. I went from 1/2" to 14mm and it is WAY louder. As in twice as loud. Actually louder than my mufflers and those are 3" Dynomax Race Bullets. The noise is caused by air displacement. So the deeper the teeth, the more noise it will make.

I run 85mm wide 14mm GT pitch. Old Top Alcohol setup (they are back to 8mm now). 3.4" wide belt, it is a monster. This required a wider idler pulley and some machine work. But I like it.

I ran 6 psi with the 144 and 11-12 with the 6-71. I had a really small pulley on the 144 and all it did was make the air hot and stopped pulling over 6000rpm. The nitrous solved that but I had distribution issues with the low profile intake and melted a plug a couple times so quit while I was...

I went from a 144 on a small block to a 6-71. It is a HUGE difference. It is running the same as the 144 when I put a 150 shot of nitrous on top.

    Blown big blocks

Anybody here run a blower on a 470RB? I was going the tunnel ram route on some 240 Trickflows but now I am thinking... hmmm... I am at 10.5:1 compression which would be perfect for methanol. The issue I have is the stock block! Not sure I could detune it enough to keep from splitting it. NOT...

    New motor gone...

Mallory 685 box banged the hell out of my blower when it smoked! I have it mounted inside the car and I couldn't even touch it it was so hot! GRRRRRR. No damage luckily because I was at cruise RPM. I bypassed it and got home.
