    Exhaust Pipe Diameter 273

I had the 40 series on my 318 Duster. Paired with headers, they were pretty loud at the tips. I decided to chop off the tail pipes (just behind the muffler outlet) one day to see what kind of racket I could make. Now, that was some serious noise right there, especially inside. They sounded...

Thanks for the pics, Lou. Nice setup you have there.

    Exhaust Pipe Diameter 273

Never plan to go that far. When I eventually rebuild the 273, I might hop it up a bit to commando specs, but that's about it. I like the idea of having a smaller displacement and original block in the car. Would 2.5" be overkill for now on the stock motor?

    Exhaust Pipe Diameter 273

Thanks for the input everyone! I'm running the stock manifolds btw. I got an estimate a while back: $650 [FM 40 series, without an X-Pipe (seemed a bit high)]. Thinking I might shop around a bit more...I know a lot of people are anti-flowmaster. I've always loved the sound, but not so sure...

    Exhaust Pipe Diameter 273

Just wondering what size exhaust piping I should be running behind a stock 273 2bbl. Been wanting to do a dual exhaust system for a while from the manifolds back. Thoughts on H or X pipe? Is it even necessary with a stock motor like mine? Undecided on mufflers too, any suggestions would be...

    Flowmaster

Had flowmaster 40 series with headers on 2 1/4 exhaust. Originally, the exhaust went all the way to the rear bumper. Sound was nice, didn't really notice any drone. One day I decided to cut the tail pipes off, so the exhaust was basically dumped right behind the muffler. Much louder and...

    Manifolds or cheap Headers?

Definitely go manifolds until you decide to go with a high quality set of headers. I had cheap hedmans on my Duster, hated them (too many problems to list).

    FlowTech Headers

Look just like the hedman headers I had. They hung too low and developed lots of dings on the drivers side.

    Post your sound bytes here.

That is one mean sounding valiant. Rubber in 3rd gear, sweet.

    muffler suggestion?

Just because a lot of people have flowmaster's, doesn't make them bad. There is a reason people buy them, they like the sound. Charger, go with what sounds best to you.

    Good Bye Flowmasters!

    Agreed, RPM.

    muffler suggestion?

He doesn't have a cat back in his car. Completely different sound with cat's and mufflers when compared with exhaust manifold/header to mufflers. Honestly, if you want your car to sound mean like a 60's or 70s muscle car, consider the flowmaster's.

    muffler suggestion?

You're welcome, you won't regret your choice.

    muffler suggestion?

Video doesn't specify whether or not they are 40 series. However, any flowmaster you get will have the same kind of sound, some louder than others.

    muffler suggestion?

Had a set of Flomaster 40 series on my Duster. Awesome sound. Magna Flow's sound a little too glass-packy to me. This Dart sounds exactly like my Duster: YouTube- 1969 Dodge Dart GT 340 Convertible For Sale!

    WHich Header??

I had hedman headers on my 318 duster. They hung way too low on the drivers side, lots of dings. Plus, they got a little too close to the steering column, actually making contact with the part above the steering box--where that metal grabber clip is. I had to remove the clip just so I could...
