Are you running the positive cable directly to the starter?

I would run the battery cable directly to the starter and then an 8 gauge wire to the solenoid. I just did this yesterday and it solved my problem. Andrew

I would think you would be close. I am in the process of doing the same thing and a local builder recomended the Black bushing with the 2 light springs for my 511 big block.
