    MuuMuu101's 68 Dart, A Learning Process...

Just for fun, I decided to open the box that had my new crank pulley in it and it's for the wrong application completely. It wouldn't work. So, I just ordered a smaller alternator pulley for my Powermaster Alternator and hopefully that will be enough to charge the Dart. My current pulley OD is...

Yeah, the house I bought has been a fixer upper so it's been taking all my energy and funds. There are a lot of "comfort repairs" I need to make so that I can enjoy it more. I have a "charging issue" right now that makes it difficult to drive the car. I have a new high output alternator...

Wow, it's been a year since I updated this. Well, not much of an update on the Dart itself. I had a kid and moved across country so, that's why I haven't done much with the car. It's pretty much the same. I drive it once a month on the freeway. The car needs some TLC & "updating." I'm not sure...

My tires end up rubbing on the wheel wells before I bottom out the differential. But it usually only happens when I have someone in the car. I have an extra set of stiffer, AFCO leaf springs I have been meaning to install. The Hotchkis ones are just a little too soft. My car is also a little bit...

I don't have too much to update on. I've been having issues with my 3D printer that I've been troubleshooting for a week, so I haven't been able to print out a couple more block-off plates. I worked with the digital dash assembly I had and was able to fix the odometer so now I'm reading and...

I tried taking an old suction cup cellphone holder and tried incorporating it into a block-off plate. After 3 failed 3D printing attempts I gave up and just decided to make it a standard block-off plate. I'm happy with how it turned out. Now to design a couple more block off plates.

Thank you! I'm trying to get the Dart to be as reliable as possible. At least it's running and driving. Whenever I have time and energy, I'd like to take one of my original Dart seats and place it in the back for a baby seat. Shhhhhhhhh... Don't tell. Here's a $5. Thank you! He's a crazy...

Not too much of an update. Back to doing a lot of OT at work. Drove the Dart approx. 30 miles today to get gas, drive through the local canyons, and pick up groceries. I've been 3D printing some block-out plate/cell phone holder for the dash. I'm on my 3rd iteration of the print trying to get...

So, I know I've been pretty quiet on FABO for the past year. 2020 has been quite a bit crazy. Luckily, both my wife and I have been employed and haven't experienced any financial hardship due to COVID. If anything, our work has been more busy. Since July, I have been putting in quite a bit of OT...

I did and mocking it up, it may have fit. However, all of my other dash trim was cracked and chipped to pieces that it wouldn't make sense. So, I 3D printed one.

My "new" '74 Duster- or why I need a project like a hole in the head

Awesome work! I'm so jealous as to how much tire real-estate you get on the Duster. I just got my Dart back in my garage and have to look into options now that my car is running well.

I still stop by from time-to-time. I relaxed on working on getting OT for a little bit and decided I should get back into my creative side. With about a day of designing, 3 days of printing, and $10 in material I might finally have a design for my dash cluster. I had to print it out in 4...

So, I really haven't had much time to think about or work on the Dart. I've been doing some extra time at work and preparing for the future. I redesigned and printed a new handle a couple of weeks ago. I was able to change its dimensions so that I could reduce the print time and increase the...

I might be able to do it. I have a 2 car garage and both my wife and her car are parked in there. We don't have a driveway so we'd have to park a car parallel to the garage in our alley. That would make sense for the Summit sensor.

Got a couple hours on the Dart today. Mostly did some small things and I'm trying to work through the electrical for my new gauge cluster. I installed my new transmission plug for the speedo hole. Test fitted and modified my 3D printed door handles. I need to make some redesigns. Electrical is...

Made a little something for the Dart. My inner door handles were cracked, worn, and my arm cushion was falling apart. I took some measurement, worked some CAD, and printed this out. I need to test fit it on Friday to see if my measurements were correct. If it fits, I should be able to sand and...

The kit sort of uses a pulses per mile calibration. To calibrate it, you hit a button to start the calibration, drive a mile, and the system records the pulses when you tell it the mile is over. Or you can use a GPS sensor and don't have to deal with calibration. See, I always was confused...

A little bit more progress today. I installed and got the wires partially set up for the temp sensor and oil pressure sensor. I also removed the speedometer cable. The kit either uses a speed sensor or a gps sensor, so I'm going to have to plug the hole where the mechanical speedo cable went. I...

It's an optical illusion. Panorama view on my phone camera. I removed the 5 nuts and 2 screws and the pad came out with little to no effort. The frame isn't bent.

First test print. Only about an inch to an inch and a half tall. I did the standard resolution (0.008" steps). I can do a higher resolution (0.005" steps) so it smooths out.

So, I got some work on the Dart today. We'll start with the bad... Bad: I bought a pair of LED headlights for a JK Jeep a member had used here. It required grinding/machining the heat sink to clearance the headlight bezel. Well, in my grinding, I accidentally damaged the headlight lens so now...

I got the 5 nuts on the top taken off. Are the sheet metal screws at the top of the dash pad? I found 2 bolts, one to the right of the glovebox and one to the left of the speedo and wasn't sure if those were the ones I needed to take out.

I got a couple hours this morning to work on the car. Tore out more things from the dash. Got stuck in a couple areas, but overall I made some progress. My biggest achievements was that I was able to remove the radio and speedometer today. The pile of parts are just getting larger. But now it's...

'68 is a one year only dash pad due to it having a lower dash pad. So, restoration or custom are typically the only options. They don't.
