    Looking at a 71' Demon

So I guess I used the wrong terminology when I said I was going to Re-body the first car onto the second as I found out that is illegal. What I'm going to do because I don't have a matching numbers engine is basically put the better options on the Column 340 Demon. Just for clarification. Cheers

    Looking at a 71' Demon

Well I've been patiently waiting and I think it has paid off, Not only did I find a date correct 340 block that checked out with the machine shop, I've also located another 72' 340 Demon that's not in as bad shape as mine. I will be picking it up on the weekend and posting pictures asap. This...

    Three motor options

Thank you very much for the info, I think a 360 would be a good candidate for my build. This helps me out big time. I found a 74' in a fury that would make a good donor. All he wants for it is $500 and its running. I went to look at the 340 motor the other night and what a dreamer:violent1...

    Three motor options

I did try to talk him down a bit, I couldn't get him to go down to even $800. That said, I like your reasoning as far as a daily driver with the 340 Gas up here in Canada is more than $4/Gallon. I like the idea of being able to work on it with room as well. And to top it off I have a buyer for...

    Three motor options

Well I don't know much about building them but I was thinking I would like to build the best streetable car as possible maybe 10:1 compression? I would definitely support the body some more with subframe connectors, lower rad support and maybe torque straps. I'm doing everything myself and...

    Three motor options

Thanks for the responses guys, there is one more piece of information that I haven't shared. I haven't actually picked up the 340 yet or paid for it. He's asking $1000 firm and that's for a disassembled motor. That's where my doubts are. If I buy a de-tuned 340 just for the date correct motor...

    Three motor options

Hi all, This is my first Mopar and I have a few options that I wanted to run by you. I have a 72' Demon that I got with no power train and it came with some nice options. I'm missing the second fender tag for one and I would like to know what was on it. If you could tell me whats missing I...

    Is this a 10.25:1 340

Thanks for all the responses, I have to agree, "an expensive piss in the wind". I already have the 440 and a steel crank out of a 67' that checked out OK. I'll think I'll go with that combo, as the 400 would be more $$ in machining for an extra 11 cubes, and a half inch of deck height. Thanks all.

    Is this a 10.25:1 340

Can anyone tell me if this is a 10.25:1 compression 340?? It is 71' and I think it came out of a Barracuda. I have a 72' 340 original Demon body that I am considering this engine for. Otherwise I may just put a BB 400 stroked or a 440 that I already have in it. The 440 is a 78' smogger though so...

    Looking at a 71' Demon

I did look there, i found deteriorated paper pieces under the front bucket. that was probably the build sheet I'm guessing. I sure wish I had that second tag though. The VIN won't tell me anything would it??

    Looking at a 71' Demon

Its not much to look at, been sitting for about ten years outside up here in the great white north. Missing motor, transmission, hood and rear bench. I plan to keep original color in and out, but I may need to leave the sunroof as there would be too much distortion if I weld that much up on the...

    71' Dart service manual

Thanks Grant, I'll hold on to the manuals then. I did look at some of the schematics in the body manual and I did notice alot of similarities, however I did find a 1972 wiring diagram manual specific to the Dart/Duster/Demon that I will pick up for hopefully cheap. Just to be on the safe side...

    Looking at a 71' Demon

Your right about it being a 72' The guy selling was mistaken. He said 71' in his ad but when I kept looking up pics of the 71' I noticed that the front grill was different than his. So it's a 72' after all. I have one fender tag but it had 2 originally, no build sheet either. I did decode the...

    71' Dart service manual

I purchased 2 manuals Chassis and body for what i thought was a 71' Demon, turns out that it is a 72'. Is the manual relevant for my 72' Demon? I've searched for my specific model but cannot come up with anything. This link will take you to a pic of the manual I bought...

Classic Industries won't work?? I thought the quarters were interchangeable with the Duster? Then again, could be wrong. Thanks for the tip, I'll check them out. Joe

    Looking at a 71' Demon

Thanks Darin, I may definitely need some donar parts can you pm me your number? For sure a hood, and rear bench seat, depending on how original I go I may replace the roof. Right now it has an aftermarket sunroof. Looks in good shape though, I would say it was done professionally. Cheers...

Thanks for the tips and I think the original white on orange idea is starting to grow on me already. I'll be sure to look into the links on Mini-tub & sub frame connectors. Cheers, Joe

    Looking at a 71' Demon

Thanks for the words of encouragement, nuttin left but the grinding now. It's a done deal! I know I'm looking at 3-5 years $20K and the biggest challenge of my life, but I would rather do it this way or no way. For me it's all about the journey. I'm sure when I get into this elbows deep I'll be...

    Looking at a 71' Demon

Wow over 6000 posts. Been around here for a while eh? Are you really selling that Demon? I never heard of Kimmer, Is he in central? I'm pretty new to the Mopar world but I think I'm hooked. 189 oil pan, is that so it can fit into an A Bod? I appreciate any and all advice. Thanks for the tip on...

    Looking at a 71' Demon

I have a 400 that I want to stroke as well as a 727TF 4 speed that I got with a 440 if that will work. I was thinking of going in with a $1500 offer like you said. One bonus is that I am a welder of 13 years although I haven't welded much on cars I used to build truck service bodies and they are...

    Looking at a 71' Demon

Hi All, I looked at a 71' Demon today born with a 340. There is no engine/trans and he is asking between $2500-3000. I'm thinking of offering $1800 max $2000 for a rolling chassis. Does this sound reasonable? I don't have any pics as the car has been dismantled but is complete...
