Is this a fair price to refurbish AC hoses.

That is way high Do you have a 4x4 places around you they make hydralic hoses for plows and can do a/c hoses too. Also take measurements and go to the junk yard most hoses use the same ends just look for length

    Let's talk about fixed-blade fans

I have used the same aluminum 7 blade flex fan since 1974 with out a shroud or a problem. I use a 2 inch spacer so the fan sits about 1 1/2" to 2" from the radiator and a 160* thermostat and can run in the worst traffic and heat and my motor NEVER exceeds 190*-195* and usually sits right on 180*

    White Vingar Radiator Flush

I've heard of "old timers" doing it when radiators were brass, but I haven't heard any one doing it with a modern radiator or motor. I would say that if you do try it I would definetly flush it again with a mixture of baking soda to nuetralize any remaining vinegar

    Best way to cool it?

On mine I put a 7 blade flex fan on it with no shroud plus when I changed water pumps on it I used one for an a/c car ( it has 1 more impellor than non a/c). Last year when it was 100+ outside I drove across town and it never got over 190-195 degrees.Yes you should get a real guage in the car .

    water pump swap?

I did this several years ago and all brackets and pulleys will work fine (not sure about a/c ). Kept the same radiator too. As for the timing cover , since the ad/ret numbers were on the cover and only the tdc line on the damper , I made matching marks on the other side of the t/cover and all...

    Temp Gauge A Mystery,,,,Help

What temp thermostat you running? The only real way to tell what is going on is to check the temp with a thermometer in the radiator. If you don't have a automotive temp probe grab the wife's baking thermometer and test with it, then compare the temp to ohm reading in the manual to see if you...

    Clutch Fan

wobbles its bad but the 1-2 blade thing is relative to temperature and I have seen many a difference between manufacturersso I would say that if you give it a spin and it doesn't go more than 1 revolution and your not running hot your ok at this time but just keep an eye on it

    Radiators

yOUR OK TO HAVE THEM run with the key off the only thing is make sure they are fused independently and make sure you have heavy duty switches rated at more than what they run .for example a 15 amp switch on a 60 amp water pump would be trouble

    Radiators

relay...that depends on how you have it wired up ..if its direct wired all by its self then a relay isnt necessary but if you run it thru another switch like ignition switch then yes it is a good idea mine is direct battery powered and fused so I dont use a relay ..so mine runs when the key...

Im useing the original water pump that came on the motor in 71...LOL but for a fan I had been using a 7 blade aluminum flex fan with out a shroud and it worked perfectly ...so why did I change it? Well for one it sounded like a tornado and two when sitting at stoplights in a school zone it...

    Radiators

sounds about right I been using a old 4 core radiator out of a pickup i think (been 20+ years ago when I got it ) and tho the width was perfect the heigth was taller so I removed the lower suport to let it hang thru the bottom and never had a problem either ...so to me a 2 core crossflow is...

    Radiators

cross flow (by theory) is better as it gives the coolant more surface area to transfer heat away by directing it back and forth across the core as it works it way up the radiator where as a regular radiator all tubes lead to the bottom at the same time --------->--------->...

    how much electric fan cfm??

I would think one that was shrouding the whole radiator would be more efficient even at a lower cfm
  18. OUTLAW

    how much electric fan cfm??

a rule of thumb we always used was 200cfm for every 100 c.i then add for a/c and tranny cooler an additional 50 cfm per 100 c.i also makes a difference if its a pusher or a puller fan.... pullers cool better than pushers
