    Electrical panel question

When I replaced my mast during upgrade to 200amp service, I inadvertently reversed the two feed lines. When our hydro company came out to restore service, they pointed it out and told me my meter would run backwards. Since I needed to have the inspector come back, and it was too late in the day...

    new lift

More than likely your camera is taking the pics at too high a resolution. This is great for printing the pics, but is needlessly to large for posting on the web. You need to copy the files to your hard drive (in fact make a duplicate copy in a different location so you dont modify the...

One problem I see Joe. If you make the bench level, then how will the ball bearings and bolts roll off without you seeing them? Where's the challenge in that? Grant

OK, help me plan out my shop!

This is not correct. A 220v dual-pole breaker is already load balanced, and does not need to be included in the "balancing". It pertains only to 110v single-pole breakers. Grant

    electrical ??

This is actually true very often. Most electrical hookups in our city can easily support 100a to the mast, but when the home was built, because 100a was not the norm, homebuilders often cheaped out on 60a service from their end. Last summer, I helped my brother change his 100a panel to a...

    electrical ??

Assuming as you said that the electric co. has the correct gauge wiring to supply 100a service to your masthead. Please understand, by putting a 100a main breaker on your panel, you are allowing 100a of current to be drawn before tripping the main, regardless of what your mast is. To...

    electrical ??

I defer to your experience. What I was simply trying to state was: 1) Electricity is drawn by a device, and the amount of amps the wire/breaker/fuse will "flow" at a given time is dependent on the device's requirements at that time. It is a common misconception that the electricity...

    electrical ??

Actually electrical devices are not "fed" electricity, instead they "suck" a volume of electricity. If they were fed electricity, then all wiring on a circuit would have to be a larger minimum gauge.. think of an automotive fuse. The limiting factor on the amp draw avail is always the gauge...

Insulation help for my garage with pics

Actually it does not need a gap between the sheeting and the insulation. It needs a vapor barrier between the sheeting and the insulation. What happens is that due to heat/cold variation on each side, somewhere in the middle of the insulation the temperature/moisture will be at the dew...

    My New Shop!! Yiippeee!

Just for info, if you mix black in the cream, it will turn it more green. Most blacks tend to be on the bluish side. You want to add a reddish-brown color to change it from the green side to the reddish brown tan color. Too many years custom tinitng paint colors lol.. Grant
