I run my car with about the same clearances, maybe closer to 5/8" to 3/4". It seems too close but I haven't had any problems.

My '69 has Cragar SS wheels. The rears are 255/60-15s on a 15x7 wheel with 4 1/4" BS. The fronts are 14x6". I believe they are 3 1/2" BS. I don't recall what the front tire size is but I can look tomorrow.

255/60-15s on the back of my '69. Rims are 15x7 with 4 1/4" backspace. They will fit with about 1/2 - 3/4" clearance all around and they will rub just a little on the inner wheelhousing on my 'vert if I am making a turn uphill. It could be because of the springs on the car.

255/60x15 is what i have on my stock Dart. About a half inch on both sides and yes they do rub under certain conditions but not bad.
