    Cooler line size

It would be better with 3/8" lines, but you could probably get by just fine with the 5/16" lines. Just make sure to use a large aftermarket trans cooler. Heat is the enemy more than line size in my opinion. Tom

Which is simpler to change gearing in: 8-1/4 or 8-3/4 rear end?

If you're changing just the pumpkin then Yes it's faster, but it takes about the same effort to setup up either if you are changing the gears out on the pumpkin carrier. Changing gears in an 8.25" is not hard and I personally wouldn't change an 8.25" over to a 8-3/4" just so I could swap the...

    Going rate 727 rebuild.

I was just having this conversation with a friend that has worked in a transmission shop for the last 25 years. He told me to R&R a 727 in a car, put all new bushing in, and the rebuild is now $1200 plus the torque convertor. Tom

    Detroit locker

Those are casting numbers for parts identification and not anything to do with a model number. The hand stamped numbers are for inventory control after it was produced. You'll not hear anything back from Eaton on this request. Having drilled bolt heads holding the halves together tells you...

Dana 60 SVL vrs Dana Spicer gear set

I can tell you that a factory OEM Dana 60 gearset is far better than anything you can buy new. I have absolutely no issues using a used OEM Dana gear set and have used gear sets in all of my Dana 60 equipped street and race cars. I have a friend who use a 4.56 out of late 50's early 60's truck...

    Aluminum Drive Shafts.... thought?

When I go to the Pull-A-Part in Indy I always look for Cop Car Crown Vic aluminum driveshafts. They are even stamped in ink "Cop Car". I use them in my cars and the best part is they have 1350 U-joints. Just be careful at yards that they haven't picked the car up with an end loader with forks...

    Who's Created/ Converted a Short 727 Using a Truck Tailhousing to a Slip Yoke?

Thanks guys for the suggestions, but I am not wanting to run a slip yoke driveshaft in a big block drag car. With the engine sitting back I am just not interested in using the full length 727 tailhousing and I don't want to get rid of the governor, or I would just go ahead and buy an A&A shorty...

    Who's Created/ Converted a Short 727 Using a Truck Tailhousing to a Slip Yoke?

It's not as straight forward as you guys think. The bolt on yoke shaft has only short splines that terminate into a larger diameter part that is a boss for a roller bearing. You have to fully understand the parts to see the issues that have to be worked around. Tom

    Who's Created/ Converted a Short 727 Using a Truck Tailhousing to a Slip Yoke?

Guys, I would really appreciate it if this thread can stay on topic. I am aware that a shorty kit can be had from A&A but that eliminates the governor which means manual shift only. I have several short transmission that just have the bolt on yokes (No parking brake drum types). Boring the...
