    I've ran a Edelbrock Performer with a thermoquad, a RPM Air Gap with a Edelbrock 1406, and a Weiand 7515 x-celerator single plane, with a Holley Double Pumper. I swear I felt a 50hp seat of the pants difference with the Weiand and Holley.

    I was thinking the ring gap was a little excessive too...if starting out fresh. Most stock compression, OE setups run .016" top ring..... .019-.20" second. Even if Forced Induction were an option on the table.....I think I would have ended up more around .020" top ring.....022" second...

    timing chains are known to slap the timing case as well...... I thought I had a KNocker one time I tore the engine down to find the OIL SLINGER installed backwards....less than 5,000 miles on a "Fresh" engine.

    Thanks...I try to post relevant info....and I HAVE browsed thousands of threads, and been messing with Mopars for the last 20 years. IMHO....if you wanted to stay with Cast Iron heads and make everyday NA 500hp.....I think it would be Hard to beat a set of INDY LA-X heads....for $1050.00...

    ahhhhh....the Age Old Question. It is BASIC and SIMPLE if you think about it. 273-2bbl, and 318-2bbl.....have the smallest valves 1.78/1.50, lightest duty springs (.450"), smallest ports. 68-70 (X,O,U castings) 340's have 2.02/1.60 valves.... .500" springs, no rotators, and monster...
