    Taurus Fan Test. Need Feedback!

Loose or damaged permanent magnet. My guess. The variable resistance rotation camming effect is because the poles of the armature are passing the permanent magnet outer which is typical. It is likely a brush motor with wired armature / permanent magnet outer. Take apart the motor. Maybe the...

    Taurus Fan Test. Need Feedback!

Sounds like something is hitting. Its like a card stuck in the spokes. To me it sounds fast rate, like the blades are clicking across a zip tie. Is it possible that the blade is barely touching some other thing? Those fans are a hurricane. Pretty sure the motor is induction rather than brush...

    "Radiator Saver"

Really? Full flow from the engine goes thru the filter? Do you have any links of how this system is designed? Well the consumer truck diesel coolant filters, all I have seen, are bypass design where they take a couple percentage of the flow thru them. A full flow inline filter that could...

    "Radiator Saver"

I am reasonably sure that the material has to be coolant filter rather than oil filter. Maybe you can get a coolant filter to spin onto the oil filter base. Down side is the velocity thru those spin on coolant filters is unlikely to "stir" all the large particles up into there, where as an...

I'd buy that. Looks like they have a US site http://www.tefba.com/ What'd you pay for it?

    "Radiator Saver"

You need a screen in there. If you are not running a screen, you are just going to clog the radiator again and again. If it is long (deep) like my second one, it will keep the crap in it better than a shallow depth one.

    "Radiator Saver"

Thanks. I'm afraid a finer inline filter will slow flow too much unless it's in a bypass setup like aftermarket on diesel cooling systems. Those things fill with mud substance in 6 months cause the system generates sediment and particulates. I am buying a bypass type kit for my Dakota as a...

    "Radiator Saver"

From what I have read, anyone who runs something like this will forever be seeing trash trapped in it. The cooling system perpetually sheds crap and it all ends up trapped in the radiator unless you have a screen. Anytime someone flushes the radiator or gets a new one, they should permanently...

    "Radiator Saver"

So after that I decided to make a nicer one that was not so crappy and would flow better. This design rather than lip over the outside of radiator inlnet simply bottoms out on the front inside wall of the radiator. It is longer for better surface area and since it protrudes into the radiator...

    "Radiator Saver"

Seeing many radiators clogged by debris coming from an engine block and seeing the price of a ganofilter, I have improved on the basic concept of putting a screen over the upper radiator hose. First pics of my basic stainless screen with a bit of cone shape stuck over the radiator inlet so it...

    New cooling system, still overheating.

Wow, sorry to hear about your troubles. Since you are experiencing rust (have in the past) as an insurance policy, you need to pull radiator and either professionally back flush it or do it yourself. It would be best to pull your thermostat and back flush your whole motor and cooling system...

    Overheating dilemma....need input.

Citric acid might be hard on an aluminum radiator? I don't know the chemistry regarding aluminum vs acid. The copper ones can tolerate quite a dose of acid.

    Overheating dilemma....need input.

Do you think your block is slowly shedding bits of rust into your radiator, cloggin it? Maybe get a ganofilter?

    Lets discuss my cooling

Pull the radiator and give it away. Pull the thermostat and reinstall the top hose. Take a garden hose and back flush the block for 10 minutes down the top rad hose towards the engine. Also get a high flow 180 thermostat. You need a bigger radiator which will accept a factory shroud. What is...

Fan timer after turn key off? B/C our 440 carb boils over mid summer.

Cant find "coolcarb spacer" on the internet. Do you have a source qkcuda? Edit: I reckon I can just use a wood laminate edelbrock 1/2" Thank you.

Fan timer after turn key off? B/C our 440 carb boils over mid summer.

I took a close look (couldn't remember) and the gasket btw carb and intake is super thin. I'm going to get a fatty 1/4" + gasket somewhere. Anyone know where to get a square bore thick gasket? Needs to seal btw eddy thunder avs (square bore) and a performer intake (I think performer...

Fan timer after turn key off? B/C our 440 carb boils over mid summer.

Yes, on this car we are proably not going HEI due to it appearing very stock these days. May we'll get a FBO module + coil and have our dist re-curved though. Maybe the hotter spark will help fire during a bit of a flood. Ill look into a thick carb gasket to see if it can handle one. Still...

Fan timer after turn key off? B/C our 440 carb boils over mid summer.

Hey folks :) Just wondering if anyone had success with helping reduce carburetor boil over by running the cooling fan 2 minutes after engine shutdown? Motor is mostly stock low mileage 440, performer intake (cross over blocked at intake), new AVS 800, carter mech fuel pump (cant remember model)...

    over cooling

Your thermostat must be screwed up if your temperature is accurate. Unless your temp probe is in the bottom of the radiator. I agree with YoungGun. First be sure your readings are right. Second, where is your temp probe mounted? Should be in the intake near water outlet. Third take your...

Clean radiator, cool engine, coolant PH, flow, fans, shrouds.

I just flushed my 01 Dakota with 1 pound citric acid and system full of water. Drove it around, idled it and such for 1 hour. Then let it sit overnight. Ran it again for 1 hour. Drained, filled, ran and back flushed it 6 times. Filled it full of 50/50 pre-mix. Worked great. Temps lowered...

Clean radiator, cool engine, coolant PH, flow, fans, shrouds.

ramcharger, well the density of air (due to altitude or other factors) and its ability to conduct and or absorb heat is in my "half assed astronaut" opinion a reasonable concern. It would seem that running at 5000 feet where you have a thinner air and less conductive medium would lessen the...

Clean radiator, cool engine, coolant PH, flow, fans, shrouds.

Best to do the process with no thermostat and flush the system back and forward many times then fill / run / drain with tap water about 8 times. Citric acid rather than muratic for a full system flush considering the exact reasons posted by autoxcuda. Although I have had great results with...

    Fan upgrade question

I second getting a factory shroud and factory thermostatic clutch fan. I have always had excellent results with this. Plus, with a clutch fan, it is essentially impossible to sling a fan blade off at high rpm. Rock auto has a varitey of blades for the clutch so you can probably find a good...
