    Pulling wires...

I worked for Verizon, I've been retired for a while now. I watched the Line gang pull a 3600 pair icky pic (jelly filled plastic insulation) cable through 2- 90 degree elbows. The conduit at the apex rose up and almost out of the ground. They've stuck cable and abandoned it, broke winches, tore...

Insulation done! Shop heater questions. Electrical gurus.

The difference in using 220 vs 120 is the wire size needed to feed the unit. For a 2kw heater using 120 volts in theory you can use a #12 feed. But it can't be a long run from the box. At 220 volts a #14 feed will do nicely. The cost of the wire is the main difference. If I was going to feed a...

    Any Electricians? Advice on wire.

I believe you said you also wanted to run the gas line in the same conduit, that's not a good thing to do. Run it separate and check for clearance from the power conduit. #6 would be good and you'll need two hot legs and a ground and if the new range has any 110 volt circuits you'll also need a...

Just look at it this way, if I had 2 sets of J heads and one set was painted gold. I wanted $100.00 for the plain ones and $1000.00 for the gold painted ones, which would you buy. Thats what he's trying to tell you, save your money for the car!!

    Portable Generator Advice wanted

Just my 2 cents. I'd be looking for one rated at 7500 watts. I don't know if you have a well or the type of heating you have but 4000 watts is the bare minimum. Refrigerators, heat (oil hotwater has circulator pumps) and some lighting will use about 4000 watts. If you have a well and any...

    electrical ??

Most of the 60 amp services I've seen around here are only 110 volt ( single conductor and gnd). Is yours 220 volt feed? If so it should work fine. It is up to the power company to upgrade the feed if it isn't. You'll have to pay for them to make the connection though.
