If you’re talking about the sector support shaft that bolts to the K frame for the steering box, the 1 5/8 headers are nowhere near that area. I doubt the 1 7/8 headers drop down below the K frame either.

I see you got it done already, but for others, the I think it was the Hotchkis Challenger had Flowmasters or similar, capped the outlet, then cut holes in the sides and ran rectangular tubes straight out to the side.

I think it was the Hotchkis Challenger, they had Flowmaster‘s with the original exit welded closed, and holes with new stubs welded to the sides. Come out the front of the side with a 45 bend & 45 cut on the end of your pipe, done!
