    Exhaust Pros/Cons for Slant 6

1 header collector, or 2? Either way, I would do single exhaust, decent muffler (though I don't have a rec. on that) then IF you want dual tips, split it. I don't see the point of split pipes just to look balanced, but thats me. You gain scavenging and I don't think a 2-1/2" pipe is going to...

    HEI issues!

Did you work on any other wiring? Starter relay, NSS, or anything else? I’m not very familiar with some of the features of the newer models. 73Ha ha, -“newer models” It may or may not help you in this instance, but have you downloaded a wiring diagram from mymopar.com? Hopefully some others...

    HEI issues!

When you say you ran a wire from the battery negative to the “module/coil/relay bracket” , do you mean you grounded the bracket that holds the module, coil, and relay, or do you mean that you grounded the module, and you grounded the coil, and you grounded the relay, and the bracket? I’m sure...

    Slant Six 170 vs. 225

I’ll defer to the guys that build these every time, I only drove pretty much stock stuff, but…. An engine that felt sluggish 39 years ago with 145K (100hp- new rating?) Vs An engine with 1500 miles and 145hp. of course this all depends on how accurate those power numbers are (or were), but the...

    Slant Six 170 vs. 225

Also, from my understanding, better scavenging. You’re only getting an exhaust pulse every 120° of rotation, so its not like 2 Cyl worth of spent gas is fighting for the same space. (Yes of course the same is true for 8cyl) Plus IMO, tru full duals on pretty much any 6 (at least any I’ve heard)...

    Slant Six 170 vs. 225

I would venture to say that if you aren’t racing, and even IF both engines were the same HP, that the 225 would offer more torque where you would really need it- on the street accelerating from a stop. As said, open up the exhaust. But please don’t run duals. If you are one that believes you...

    Jeep 4.0 in 69 Barracuda

RRR-1 beat me to it, I almost couldn't believe someone hadn't already chimed in with that. I love this build so far. I miss my 4.0 ZJ, and I contemplated a 4.0 into a Dart on more than a couple times.

Why is my oil pan bolt touching my drag link? Pic included.

As soon as I saw dana67’s photo, it was pretty obvious what’s going on. To me any of the bottom 4 pans “should” work, & convinced OP has top left. Anybody that’s into slants should probably print that picture and stick it in a file somewhere.

Why is my oil pan bolt touching my drag link? Pic included.

I guess it could go to the steering arm left as well, but yes :poke:

Why is my oil pan bolt touching my drag link? Pic included.

I'm not getting how the bolt is on the wrong side of the pan, what do you mean by that? Mine is on the back side of the pan. PS, That is technically a Center Link, though so many people call it a drag link that most people know what you are referring to. Much like calling a wheel a rim, or a...

    Hot Rod Slant Six article

Lol, “Reading” Playboy and listening to Genesis. I was listening to Judas Priest. Only to find out years later that Rob Hallford probably wasn’t looking at Playboy. But, we digress, this thread is about the leaning tower of power.

Dual vs. single plane slant intake and other build questions

But it's only like 3/4 of the shifting the 4-speed guys have to do. Literally. And your leg doesn't have to do a damn thing.

Dual vs. single plane slant intake and other build questions

"I would not try to go both ways with the same engine." 2nd that. and, If you are thinking turbo, go manifold. If you decide N/A, I'd go header, but add manual valve body & do away with the kickdown, one large single exhaust, don't try to run duals on a six.

    duels on stock 225

I've owned Slants, Fords,& Jeep inlines and loved them all, but prefer them through a single pipe. Bagger Ultra Glide through a 2>1 Thunderheader, same deal.

    duels on stock 225

Tank is offset on either single or dual exhaust. Cant offer any info on sizing. If I were doing a \6, even if I was using header or dual manifolds I would combine to 1 pipe and use 1 low restriction muffler, then not sure about split (not much room after muffler to do a split before axle). I...

    Engine/trans ID?

68 to 75 block. "engine displacement should be stamped on a pad on the deck surface, on the distributor/oil pump side of the block, directly below the alternator brackets." probably a 904 trans. Links to much info. Playing With Blocks Slant Six Forum

Beefed up My six, need more power to the Rear

I don't know anything about the Webers, but since you already have them & the intake you probably want to keep that. I would be leaning towards the 390 CFM Holley unless you're twisting ungodly RPMs. At six grand, a 230 inch engine is going to pull 399 CFM if it's capable of 100% efficiency...
