    You need a clearance of .080 intake and .100 on the exhaust. No way your going to do it with head gaskets. You need to fly cut the pistons. If you have enough material.

    I've used the two piece pans. Unless it is under your intake, I don't think that is your problem. Are you using paper gaskets on the intake? Test fit the intake on the heads. It may be that the heads are cut or intake and that is your leak.

    Weight of the valve components and mostly worn out springs are the cause of float. Since the intake weighs more, than yes it is the one that will float first.

    10-4, that is the only way I know to do it. It gets to be kind of a guessing game when you try and figure out is it a .474 lift or .484 lift cam.

    I agree, The same motor with a dominator Team G vs a Indy intake on max wedge ported 452's and the car slowed down 2- 10's. At least this was my experience. I have always liked the Team g.

    I ran the 484 cam in my 70 340 4sd. Duster. Installed it at 104 ran a Mallory unilite that was 20 degrees in at 2000 rpm and initial @ 18 . LD-340 intake 700 DP 3.91 gears. Performed very well and I never had to retune. Just had to keep replacing the rear tires!

    Well it's kinda of hard to comment without an explanation? By the picture it is hard to tell what happened. Did the rotating of the crank/rods make those marks? When your tittle said carnage I expected broke rods or windowed the block.

    Because to maintain the proper geometry your rocker are adjuster should have 2-3 threads exposed below the rocker arm. If you cut the heads the old pushrods should be to long unless there was to much of the adjuster showing before the milling?

    Years ago I bought a set of max wedge ported 452's from Dan Dvorak. The heads were milled so much that they "felt" fragile to me. But they worked and had pretty good flow numbers. The open chamber wasn't eliminated but there wasn't much lip left.

    If you want a street-able set up I too like Bob stated run 2 600 1850 style vac secondary carbs. I have street drove 340's to 426's over the years and the 600 vac secondary carbs are much more user friendly.

    Me and Moper both have said the same thing on the push rod length. Yes you will need custom/shorter pushrods. And when you take that much off the heads I would think you would plan on Roller rockers also.
