On a steel rod motor you should consider .040-.045 as a minimum. I would use a thicker gasket.

I would take the cap off and have someone else turn the engine over to make sure the rotor is turning. They have a plastic gear on the end that is known to break.

The light is designed to come on at Approximately 7 psi. I would venture to guess the oil pressure is low at normal running temperature. A mechanical gauge will clear this mystery right up.

Thought I would mention a trick taught to me years ago. When you put vise grips on a fitting, they usually crush before coming out. Drop the largest diameter bolt down the inside of the fitting before you clamp down on it. Works pretty good on getting then to break loose.

I had a slant six that threw number 6 rod out of the block and broke the starter off. Put a old used starter on it and stuffed a rag in the hole and drove it for 6 months. No choice back then, I didn't have any money. I was so broke, I couldn't afford to pay attention!

I would expect it to be more of a piggy back of years past like the 5.7 being a Hemi. Though it might be a some what "Slanted Story", it will draw on the slant six lovers of old.
