Manifolds or stay with what I have?

maybe you can cut the collector off and weld exhaust pipe to it and put the collector in a better spot to get to. Another option might be to cut the collector off and use a V band clamp. Honestly I don't know why modern headers don't have these on them.

    318 exhaust

Id go 2.5" that way when you want more power down the road and add headers you don't have to redo the entire exhaust.

    Anybody running PYPES Violator?

IF you go with cheap headers and this kit. One side of the exhaust will fit good with just a normal header collector. The other side fits good with an S bend collector. I remember barely modifying anything, maybe a couple inches off the S collector.:thumleft:

    Anybody running PYPES Violator?

I have that system but i used different mufflers. My only complaint is I wish it wasn't so close to the driveshaft. Other than that it is good. My dad had the violator mufflers on his truck a long time ago, I Think he might have taken them off because they were too quiet? I can't remember...

Best 318 headers with no modification?

FWIW, with the cheap headers you will either need the oil filter adapter or just use a shorty filter. You'll also need to lose some if not all of the end studs on heads, these go into your coolant passage so use sealent on the bolts. They also break off in there sometimes so be careful. You will...

    smallblock headers - which ones?

TTI and Dougs fit good I hear but cost big bucks. The cheap style headers that run under the linkage fit decent for the price but if your front end is low you might be scraping them, or if your pulling huge wheelstands. Oddly when I first installed the cheap headers i did not have to dent the...

Open headers vs any muffled system

You'll end up with a headache pretty quickly with just open headers. I put a set of glasspacks 2 1/2 rite off the headers then a turndown rite after the headers sort of purple hornie style. In the car it sounded like total crap untill you got it above 3,000 rpm then it started sounding real good...

    Dynomax race bullet review

I don't know why but anyone who does an exhaust sound clips puts the camera next to the muffler or real close. The sound recording device cannot process sound of that DB level and it gets distorted. Set your camera back 10-20 feet and you will get a much better sound. I'm sure the car sounds...

    Question about Flowtech headers

Mine work fine never scrape, 45 mph over railroad tracks without issues. but i have new suspension and my car sits nice. I dented mine very very slightly so the flange bolts fit better, that's it!! nothing that would really effect flow. If your car sits low they will scrape. Aside from scraping...

    summit mufflers

summit has a chambered muffler now as well. Not sure if it is an exact copy of the flow master design. I have owned/seen/heard a set of 40 series and a set of thrush welded mufflers. Both are exactly the same, metal thickness, construction, internal baffles. anyone who thinks the flowmaster...

    Painting headers?

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried to look into the plastikote and see if anyone online has used it. not many people have but, everyone that I came across that did use it said it worked out great. I might do a small test section on something first just to see though. I will try and cook the...

    Painting headers?

First of all, I CAN'T AFFORD TO SEND THEM TO GET COATED!!!! So don't tell me to coat them. Now these headers already have a ceramic coating but it is a real crappy one and is rusting already. They have been on the car for under a year. do you think I can get the remaining coating off in the...

    Flowmaster

Could you get a video or something of how they sound? I too am looking for that muscle car sound. Funny thing is I run 2.5 inch pipe, headers an x pipe and thrush welded mufflers. The car sounds good but it is rather quiet. My friend has headers 3" pipe no crossover pipe and thrush welded...

    Dual Exhaust System Recommendations ?

I have a pypes kit. It was a pain to install. If the x pipe was an inch or two further apart it would be a cakewalk. BUT ITS NOT! it was a huge pain in the *** to install. I had to use a ratchet strap to one of the leaf springs to pull the pipe over enough. It did work and it is stainless so it...

    header help??

I did a compression test on my motor yesterday, i have the flotech headers. took about 30 minutes to get all the plugs out, compression test and put them back in. really not a big deal, if you really end up having issues you can slide a rubber hose over the plug to help you "get it in". Ill...

    Headers that dont bottom out

Everyone seems to want headers that don't scrape but yet nobody has ever listed any measurements about ride height they want to run. That is really the only way to figure out what header options you have. Cheap headers work fine for me with a stock ride height and maybe slightly taller than...

    Sidepipes or not?

I think they look great on some cars. I think I am going to run a full exhaust on the dart since i have some nice tips for it but, my second choice would be sidepipes! but that's what I like.

    header question

I installed the same headers 4th of july weekend. Fit great. My header gasket does have a small leak though. If you take any of the studs out run a tap threw them as the bolts in my case went in further than was threaded.

    Header install tips and tricks?

I removed the starter and raised the engine as much as I could with the jack, really didn't feel like getting the hoist out. These flotechs fit pretty darn good. A few dents were made to make the bolts easier to get in only in 2 spots though. It looks close to the one torsion bar so a dent will...
