I siliconed the china wall. (No gasket) Used just a bit of silicone to hold the long ones in place. Coated both sides of them with thin coat of grease. Makes removal easy.

    I kinda thought so. :thankyou::thumbsup:

Ok now I have these gaskets. I also have some .018” stainless steel. Anyhow, these gaskets have I don’t know what you call it, blue embossing? Anyhow, which side goes up?

I've always thought that the shim material would possibly create a vacuum leak. But obviously not. I may try this before I go the epoxy route. I measured temps on the manifold with a laser temp thingee, (now, before blocking the heat) so that I could possibly tell if a particular block off...

I'll give that a try. Thanks

I want to block the heat crossover on my 360 w/ ported 915's. It's a warm weather engine. The 1213's don't have the openings for the crossover. Will they work? Why don't they burn through? Is their purpose to block the cross over, or was there an application with no crossover?

    LA Oiling Question

I forget, don’t all three bolts thread into a non-pressurized area? I believe that’s what I saw when I put my 360 together. If so, it’s not a pressure leak, it’s just a path for oil to get to the sprockets and chain. The hole is so small, not much oil is getting through it non-pressurized.

That makes sense. I didn’t think of that. Thanks AJ.

Geez Rumble, at least give me a reason for your disagreement. We could maybe both learn something. Not to mention others that might read this. :)

    Waking Up a Turd

I didn’t recommend flashpoint check because the OP has street tires. It won’t dead hook to see the actual flash point. A quick power brake won’t hurt anything. It’s been done millions of times. A flash point check isn’t much different, and that’s done every time you launch.

    Waking Up a Turd

Sounds good. You may want to test stall speed while it’s still running. Holding the brakes, apply throttle and see what it’ll rpm to. Should give you a rough idea.

He mentioned 18* initial. I’d like to know if he limited the total after bumping it. Or, maybe it was curved previously?

    Small block intake

I guess its harder to do than in the past, but a stock 440 with a moderate amount of compression would float along at 90 mph with those 2.76 gears. Also, if you stick with that mini-block, I mean 360 :poke:, don't worry about the weight of a cast iron vs. aluminum intake, that barge probably...

You can also set the floats a smidgen lower than the spec.

    Dipstick

My 360 came out of a D150. It's in my Duster now. I changed the pan, of course. I didn't bother changing the dipstick, I figured I'd recalibrate it. It's a stock pan with 5 qts. in it. It reads full 6 3/4" further up from the truck "full" mark! Doesn't seem logical, but It has to be...

Angelucci Hold Downs- Valve Cover That Clears?

I just installed the above covers. They seem okay. Comparing the two, the stamped (new) ones are longer inside. They're made by our friends in China (sarcasm), and are of average quality. Thanks for the help folks.

Angelucci Hold Downs- Valve Cover That Clears?

Just the ones that came with the Felpro set. Each about 3/16. (probably your .197.) With the 2 under it, it almost clears. I just ordered these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CMD7I8/?tag=joeychgo-20 They're supposed to be "tall", and maybe because they're stamped, there will be a...

Angelucci Hold Downs- Valve Cover That Clears?

Not hitting the baffle. Two of what I have is 3/8". Almost enough. Can't find the thicker gaskets. Any idea who makes them? Nice, way nicer than my Edelbrocks and too pricey. Thanks. Considering this. I'm going to clay them. It doesn't seem like it is much. Maybe a cheapie set of chrome...

Angelucci Hold Downs- Valve Cover That Clears?

I have Edelbrock Elite's. (The ones with the fake allen head screws.) They cleared before I installed the rocker shaft hold downs. (And they came with the engine.) Not now. They hit the end hold downs. They measure about 2 1/2 to the baffle. They're about 3 1/2 high overall. Is that...

Composition vs. Embossed Steel Intake Gaskets

I used a couple dabs of silicone. All good. All I have left before install is polishing the ugly Edelbrock valve covers (runs better, lol), and rebuilding the Holley. (Well, I don't need that for install.) :-) It's going in my 74 Dart Sport cloned into a 70-71 Duster.

Composition vs. Embossed Steel Intake Gaskets

Yes, I am using silicone, no end gaskets.

Composition vs. Embossed Steel Intake Gaskets

It's not OEM. I'm reassembling it (360) after taking it apart for inspection after I bought it. It ran good then. Manifold fits good. Sounds like the comp (yes, blue) are what I want. It had "paper" when I took it apart. It's street/strip, so I'm not too worried about blocking the...
