    I don’t think that you want a resistor in the circuit, that would lower the voltage. If you only have 9 volts at the terminal, I would think that you have high resistance in the circuit. Could be the connections, or the ignition switch .

    The master disconnect switch on the negative side is not NHRA legal . I did something similar to the wiring diagram on my race car, the starter relay is near the battery in the rear, and the battery cable is only hot when the starter is cranking

    I am working on my buddies 71 Demon, I built a 72 360 engine for it. I had it out 2 weeks ago, and it fouled all the Autolite spark plugs he had in it.     The + positive side of the coil must have voltage when the engine is cranking,or you will not have spark. Could be a ignition switch , ballast resistor or wiring problem.
