    273 318 heads w/ adjustable rockers

Here are a couple of more pictures. I’ll measure the valves just in case they’re not the standard size. I didn’t build the engine and the specs that were given to me from the previous owner were only somewhat accurate.

    273 318 heads w/ adjustable rockers

Before I list these heads for sale, I wanted to make sure I have the right application, years, engines. These heads came off my 1968 318. Casting number is 2843675. Are these correct for 1968-1969 273 engines and 1968-1974 318’s? If someone was an interested buyer, what other details would you...

    300hp to the wheels 318

Back in January of this year, the first pull on my 318 (baseline, no tune) was 254.7 hp. On my 3rd pull after re-jetting the 750 Holley DP, we got 273.3 hp. and 411 lb. tq. at the rear wheels. The header gasket was blown out at the number 2 cylinder, plugs were fouled, and had a worn cap and...

    Dyno shop tested 318

I had to ask the shop again, so clarifying a mistake, I thought it was a pushrod, just by seeing the top of it. It's a throttle return spring that fell inside the head, after taking the intake manifold off.

    Dyno shop tested 318

Well I got about one month's worth of fun driving, but after bringing it home from the dyno, it felt a little "off", ran just bit rough. After replacing cap & rotor, plugs, wires, header gaskets, intake gasket (oil leak), it started puffing smoke out the breather and exhaust. It wasn't the PCV...

Thanks! Yes that’s a Ford 9. It was in there when I bought and it works fine with the 3.54’s.

    Valve cover gasket material preference

I just installed these blue Moroso gaskets this afternoon and the driver side valve cover was leaking oil worse than the cork gaskets I had on there. I need to take them off again and see what’s going on. I have Mopar Performance valve covers and they are nice and flat

    black widow mufflers

Nat- I’m considering running the exhaust out the back and or just swapping the mufflers with some Dynaflows. Maybe even switching to a 2.5” exhaust system instead.

    black widow mufflers

I forgot to add that I have the 10" Widowmaker mufflers. This is from their website: With virtually no restrictive qualities, the Widowmaker 10" produces Black Widow’s signature aggressive and clean tone with a small 10” x 5” footprint. Ideal for tight spaces, the Widowmaker has a straight...

    black widow mufflers

I responded to cudajames in my post about my dyno run from a couple of weeks ago: A loud car is cool for about the few minutes it's idling and acceleration, but after driving it 20-30 minutes on the freeway, not so much. Black Widow mufflers advertising says it increases horsepower with less...

cudajames- a loud car is cool for about the few minutes it's idling and acceleration, but after driving it 20-30 minutes on the freeway, not so much. Black Widow mufflers advertising says it increases horsepower with less drone. Let me tell you that there is definitely some drone. Not to mention...

On the labor notes: " set idle mixture screws, adjust idle, check and set timing, change out secondary jets to 83." Also, they welded in a bung, in the exhaust pipe, for the O2 sensor. By the way, the shop is Deleon Dyno Performance in Santa Clara, CA.

    Dyno shop tested 318

Not sure what section I wanted to post this thread but I figured this would be a good start. I picked up this 68 Dart at the beginning of January and I was curious as to what kind of power it was putting out. I was only given a limited amount of information about the engine build but it sounded...

1971 340 L2316 pistons stock, modified or damaged?

Cudafever: the guy was honest about engine condition and who had built it previous to him owning it. He had it in his Duster and said it was a dog. He pulled it and ran with a 360 instead. Unlike some sellers who wouldn't take the time to let someone open up the engine, he insisted and we took...

1971 340 L2316 pistons stock, modified or damaged?

I picked up a 1971 340 a couple of weeks ago and I was wondering about the markings/grooves on top of the pistons. I'm not a expert on building engines or pistons, but I was curious as to whether the previous owner had cut into to them or possibly installed them incorrectly. I included a picture...
